I used to be a fan of the original Chiquito at Newcraighall until they demolished it along with the cinema 8 years ago.
Now we have a new cinema and a new Chiquito.
Busy and bustling, didn't have to wait long for a table and enjoyed a tall mock-tail of fruit juice as I scanned the menu.
For starter - garlic bread with chilli. I enjoyed this crispy flat bread soaking in garlic butter, parsley with added chilli heat.
Mains came sizzling in a hot skillet - Peri Peri flavoured chicken fajitas loaded with salsa and guacamole. A very generous portion, I was stuffed after eating this tasting and spicy dish, and couldn't manage a dessert.

I went here for lunch yesterday and loved it despite not being a big Mexican food lover. We had garlic bread with cheese and chilli poppers for starters which were both amazing. Both came with heavenly dips. For main meals I got a halloumi salad and my boyfriend Gary got a pulled pork wrap. He really enjoyed his and I liked mine but I'd have preferred it if the peppers, cucumber, red onions weren't cooked and warm because warm salad isn't as nice as cold by far. The main menu was also quite limited for me with there only being one thing I'd really eat. The puddings were incredible I got the churros with chocolate dip and strawberries which I really recommend. Gary got the honeycomb and chocolate cheese cake which he also loved and that too came with strawberries and chocolate dip. All portion sizes were big and very filling, the lunch menu is very reasonably priced although I believe dinners more expensive. We were served by 'Sam C' who could not have been lovelier or more helpful! The restaurant itself is laid out nicely and had a lovely atmosphere and is probably my favourite of the new fort buildings so far. The only other criticism I would have is that they need more on their drinks menu- they just have lemonade, tango, Pepsi and diet Pepsi in terms of soft drinks! I had a lovely first time at Chiquitos and would 100 percent go back and recommend!

A warm welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Coupled with astonishingly fast service given the quality and freshness of the food.
We went for lunch on a busy Friday in Fort Kinnaird in the run up to Christmas, you wouldn’t have known in the restaurant though, we were transported into a relaxing environment in comparison. I was amazed that our food came within a few minutes, faster than some of the neighbouring fast food chains could have achieved. The difference here though is the freshness and the quality of the food is top notch. We have been here a few times and we always enjoy it.
The place is obviously very well looked after, it had a high standard of cleanliness - you can see through to the kitchen and it was gleaming.
5 stars as overall the value for money along with the service and quality of food is excellent. Having dined at all the neighbouring restaurants, Chiquitos is a cut above the rest, given what you get for similar cost.
Finally, a tip for shoppers looking for a bit of a break. The bar is very relaxing and welcoming. It’s obviously not a pub, but the bar would be an ideal pit stop, even if all you wanted was a drink or 2!

Had a great lunch here with my husband! Good choice as my husband likes spicy and I don’t. The service was great and the food came really quick as we were pressed for time! All tasted really fresh. Can’t fault it we’ll be definitely be back!
Had a meal there on Saturday 16th November and the manager was very accommodating, as we arrived very late, due to traffic and weather. He was very understanding of this, and made sure our meal and time there was enjoyable. Food was amazing but the service was even better. I never got his name, which was rude of me, but thanks very much for the hospitality.
Just had a lovely lunch here. Food was great and service was totally spot on. Have to say our waiter was so helpful, friendly and attentive. Makes all the difference having such good service, well done Jason 👍🏻💖👍🏻
My son asked to have his birthday meal here over the weekend and it didn't disappoint! We were seated and served promptly, by friendly staff and the food also arrived quickly.
The kids eat free menu was great with our 3 year old in tow, she absolutely loved the quesadilla pizza. Wolfed down the lot, which is saying something for a kid that age!
Would recommend for anyone with kids, our two loved wearing their sombreros as we were at the table.
