Held a birthday party in their private room upstairs. Can't thank James and his staff enough. They were great from start to finish, letting us in early to decorate and helping us out. Ordered a selection of the sharing platters that were ready exactly when we wanted them and they were great, even making up some gluten free options for us. They left us alone to get on with the party. Great to have somewhere we could stay and party until 1am. Would highly recommend.

The Mockingbird was an absolute god send, trying to arrange a hen do at short notice they were able to offer us their private room upstairs where we could decorate, play our own music and make all the noise without disturbing anyone. They put on a great buffet and the service was fantastic, super friendly and helpful staff. When I told Georgie (who was looking after us) it was a hen do she was even able suggest we use her Mum who happens to do hen parties, we took full advantage of this contact and she was amazing! Thank you Mockingbird crew, we had a ball!

Great place in the Newington area to grab a drink, though I'm not a big fan of the burgers there so can't recommend it for food at this time. That said though, I'd probably go back to try something else if I'm in the area.

We used the Mockingbird function room for a stag party and staff were extremely helpful. The buffet was excellent value for money and they gave us free reign with music and decorations. The bar staff were friendly and helpful and very tolerant of our drunken friend. I would highly recommend using this function room or going to the bar for food because what we had in the buffet was very tasty

The veggie platter to share is amazing as a starter for a group of 3 or 4. Tastes delicious! Especially the sweet potato fries are outstandingly good. Was really quiet on a Monday night, not a lot of customers. The staff is very friendly and they have a nice selection of craft beers.

This restaurant/bar has a really quirky, cool atmosphere and friendly staff. From the menu is choset the chicken stuffed with haggis and I wasn't disappointed. It was so tasty and the vegetables with it were cooked to perfection. A real treat and won't break the bank either.

Went to The Mockingbird for a bite to eat and the pub quiz on a Thursday. We had a burger, the nachos and the chicken fajitas - all delicious and good value. The atmosphere is really relaxed with cosy lighting and candles everywhere. The staff are friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, we became last in the pub quiz but as losers we got a sundae to share, which is a win in itself. The quiz was great fun though and I would definitely do it again.

I went here about a year ago on a trip through the UK with my girlfriend; we stopped in on a recommendation from a local, and it was absolutely worth it. I ordered the vegetarian fajitas paired with an Irn Bru soda and it was by far one of the best meals I've ever had. Friendly staff, comfortable atmosphere, fair prices. My only regret is that I couldn't stay long enough to go back for more!

We stopped in for drinks with friend's. It a nice looking place with a good selection of beers. It costs a little more for drinks here than other places we've been on the south side of Edinburgh but still very much inline with general prices within the city but the slection of beers does balance this out as they are not your normal on tap selection. There was live music but it wasn't my thing but I wouldn't let that put me off going back.

Was in here for a private function in the room upstairs. Thought the bar was really cool, upstairs room is too and has table football plus sound system to play your own music. My only gripe was the kitchen is also upstairs and there was a really strong meat smell which was a bit rank. Maybe just a one off and definately would go back.

Such a cosy and welcoming place with really fantastic music, perfect for the vibes of the place. Also the bartender is really lovely, he has really friendly eyes. I will recommend and come back for sure

Great food and good selection of drinks. Nice function room and very friendly atmosphere and staff. Main bar area is cool and busy enough to feel like a good night out rather than just a local bar.
