I have been to eat in the restaurant many times over the years and always enjoyed the food from the traditional Chinese and dim sum menus. Tonight I ordered from Deliveroo, the menu is limited to the "British" Chinese food, but that was ok as I wanted some Cantonese food. I ordered spring rolls, soft noodles, sweet and sour chicken and aromatic duck. The best thing was the sweet and sour, it was ok, pretty standard. The noodles weren't too bad but were fairly greasy. The spring rolls were dripping in oil and without flavor or much filling. The duck... the duck was probably the worst thing I have ever received fro ma restaurant, it looked like it was cooked days ago and the microwaved just before I got it, dry, hard and with not much flavor. Even worse was the box of leak and cucumber slices, the leak was old and dry, the cucumber was actually rotting, it was translucent, slimy and bitter, inedible. We didn't eat anything from that box, it looked like it had been chopped and put in there several days ago at best. This is the first time I've had food so bad that I've felt the need to leave a review.

Went here after waiting for an hour for the torch procession to start. It was taking longer than expected and our youngest was too tired to continue waiting. We left and were able to get seated quickly here around 8:30pm. The place was still buzzing with customers. It took a while for someone to take our order, but the food came quickly and was very good.

I'm very partial to Chinese food but, I must say this was one of the best dry hot pots I've ever had! The chicken soup wasn't bad either. If you're looking for something hot, spicy and delicious, this is the place for you!! Has a big space for large groups too.

I've been back twice for the braised pork belly and they never disappointed. But 4 stars instead of 5 because the price isn't very wallet friendly.

Great decently priced dim sum! Got around 15 dishes for 5 people and it came to £70 which is really good! Not the best dim sum I've had but it's definitely up there in there. Think the portions could have been bigger but maybe the amount reflects the price. The service was perfect and the food came quickly. Definelty recommend!

This is the third time I am changing this review. The service went from average to poor and now back to good. I had an experience of having to leave the place after waiting for one and a half hours for food. Since then I happened to be there twice and both time I got good service. It was the tasty food that attracted me back despite the bad experience. Good news is most of the old lazy staff seems to have gone now and the difference is evident.

The beef noodles comes with a very big bowl. The tate isn't what I expected but ok. It's more Chinese than Vietnamese noodles.

The food was ok. The soups were really good but the chicken rice was a disappointment as the chicken was really dry and not tasty. The noodles were fine and generally a good restaurant.we had some trouble with the menu.

This is the closest you'll get to a decent Chinese restaurant in Edinburgh. Service leaves a lot to be desired but the food is the sole reason why this place has survived. Don't go for the a la carte menu. Hit the dim sum menu. And you'll be mildly surprised by the option and the quickness at which the little plates leave the kitchen. It's right bang in the city centre and five mins from Waverley train station so very handy to pop in for a quick refuel.

Went there today for lunch. Ordered a selection of Dim Sum and it was great. I'm adding the photos with this review so don't be disgusted by as they contained some pig trotter and chicken feet. Some people may find it not so appetising but I can assure you that you shouldn't need to feel afraid of trying something different, something new. Because these two dishes that I ate today was very delicious! Even a 12 year old who've tried pig trotter for the first time today enjoyed it too. Writing about pig trotter and chicken feet made me almost forgot about the Dim Sum. They were also delicious.

I was part of a large group of people who went here for dinner. It was almost closing time, and the restaurant was almost empty. Some of the staff were eating at a table.

They would have turned us away, but it looked like the temptation of additional business, especially a large group such as us, must have been the primary reason why they gave us a table.

We did order extensively, and while I do not recall the exact dishes, every sauce and gravy tasted the same, and it was a disappointing experience overall.

It looked and tasted like the chef had left for the day, and what was served to us must have been put together by support staff in the kitchen.

Bad show! Good way to lose customers! I'll never go back!

For a truly Chinese experience, my main advice when visiting any new restaurant is to check for other Asians - you won't find Chinese people visiting a Chinese restaurant that doesn't serve authentic Chinese food. It's only at Saigon Saigon that you get to truly experience Chinese dining, the main one being 'yum cha' or tea time. The name can be slightly misleading though as yum cha is done anytime from 5:30am for the elderly generations who meet their friends early in the morning to chat and catch up over tea and shared dishes to lunch time for everyone else. Dim sum (literally translated into little heart) is served during this period, aptly named because you get small portions of each dish so you can try a little of each dish.

Booking by phone can be a problem, the background noise makes it difficult to hear the person at the other end of the phone. Sometimes when you manage to make a reservation, you turn up to find they haven't taken your details down correctly or they haven't got you on the list. The best thing would be to just turn up and be prepared to wait as it can be quite busy with most Chinese people taking advantage of their dim sum menu which I haven't been able to find any other restaurant offering.

The dishes they offer are as authentic as what you can get in restaurants in Hong Kong though. I've brought different non-Chinese friends to Saigon Saigon just for this experience and everyone enjoyed it very much and asked me to bring them again next time.

Saigon Saigon is a place I recommend to go to if you're in the city centre. It's menu is full of excellent choices from dim sum to bigger main dishes which we always order and share. I've been here so so many times and it's great decor, staff, food, price, portion, atmosphere, manager and owner Hahn makes this place a top restaurant. I in particular love the authentic dishes that comes from the Chinese menu :) it's a request you have to make and it's worth making! Try out the chicken claws, the spicy veggie pots, it is really the chef's skills here that makes us come back for more.

I really recommend this place to do authentic food.

It was Chinese heaven. This restaurant has a wonderfully old-school atmosphere about it, dark, moody with a hint of red with no pretentions. The welcome is undeniably warm and the best part of this restaurant is that it is two restaurants in one! Upon sitting down, the diners are presented with two menus; one being a 'normal' bog-standard Chinese-in-the-UK menu (not that the quality is bog-standard, mind) and the second one is a sight to behold. You see, the second menu is the Dim Sum menu and comprises of pictures. Even if you are a veggie like me and can't eat 90 percent of the Dim Sums (chicken's feet anyone?), the pictures and descriptions will keep you occupied and be a talking point for the evening. What does a chicken's claw in spicy sauce taste like? I wonder how you eat tripe in curry sauce? Believe me, I was like an excitable toddler with a Mr Men book when I clapped eyes on the menu, I even took it home with me for my box of culinary souvenirs. It is worth noting that the no

Seems ok but.... If you order anything vegetarian they always seem to give you a very non-vegetarian jelly as part of the dessert
