Nice calamari, tender inside and crispy outside. I enjoyed the grey squid ink mayonnaise. Thought the dish was a little expensive but that might just be because of Edinburgh festival.

Got to try when they were in Aberdeen for a pop up event. Steak and chips were delicious and the sauce was amazing. Would recommend to all my Edinburgh friends.

Amazing meat! Very delicious and not very expensive. Recommend it for anyone in the city. It's located in a very hipster local street food area. You'll love it.

I have been meaning to eat at Barnacle & Bones for a while now but only finally got the chance last week, during the Fringe. The usual police style box eatery has a temporary set up in the RBS courtyard at St Andrews Square and is serving up all their usual treats! <br/>Barnacles & Bones specialises in crab and lobster with tarragon-salted fries. They were all out of crab so my mum and I had the lobster, which was dressed beautifully and the fries and coleslaw were perfect sides. We also shared the crab and sweetcorn fritters, which I was concerned might be a bit dry but again the crab had been dressed before being made into a fritter and tasted delicious. <br/>If you are looking for something a bit different to eat on the go, then definitely give this little gem a try!

Exactly what the Edinburgh Street Food scene has been needing! Despite the generous portions it leaves you wanting more every time... Thanks B&B, will definitely be back again next weekend for lunch.

I was in the area the other day so I decided to try this police box as I have heard so many great things about it. And I wasn't disappointed! Hall, the owner, was just setting up as it was around noon when I stopped by. I ordered the crab with fries. It was delicious! I munched it very quickly before Grant Tinney showed up and ordered the beef. He really enjoyed his dish as well. We've been talking about coming back it's just a shame that our office is at the other side of town. Hopefully we'll have another meeting in the area soon and will stop by!

Newly opened in a police box at the back of John Lewis on Cathedral Lane, I have been desperate to try this place out. An unappetising half left lunch resulted in my being hungry on the way home from work, so I thought I’d stop off here to fill my chops. The owner informed me that as you can drink on the streets in Edinburgh, it is classed as a BYOB and local wine sellers can offer some pairings for you.

With many places popping up their Festival offerings and trying to bed things in time for the rush of excited punters that will hit the town from the end of this week onwards, it was interesting to run into a place, in the shape of police box eatery Barnacles and Bones, which is launching now with longer term aims.

Too many recommendations on Twitter, so I had to take a trip down to Cathedral Lane to try this food out. Perfect day, sun was shining and I was hungry.Barnacles & Bones is a great wee spot to try some fantastic street food. A converted police box not large enough to swing a cat in but big enough to produce a couple of wonderful very tasty dishes. Crab n chips or salad OR beef n chips or salad. I opted for the slow roasted beef with tarragon chips. The beef was soft, slightly sweet and the salty tarragon chips balanced it perfectly. The chips were crispy on the outside and soft in the centre. A lovely side coleslaw of purple cabbage and carrots added a lovely zing to the dish.A very generous portion made to look simply tantalizing in a take away container. If there is one slight criticism, please purchase plastic forks instead of the wooden ones!BnB are here for the next 12 months (hopefully longer) and promises to bring us "shellfish & obscure cuts of meat to the plate".I'll be back!
