Silver Bowl is the best Thai food in Edinburgh, hands down. Moved here from NYC, a city with the best of every kind of cuisine. Edinburgh is sadly lacking in great cuisine compared to other cities, but Silver Bowl Thai has never let us down. The food is delicious every time and the service is always so friendly. They clearly take the time to get to know the folks who live nearby and order fairly often.
Just received my chicken pad Thai. Portion huge, food still hot and all that delivered 30m before time. Happy with service and taste.
I am always cautious using Chinese takeaways. However... The Silver Bowls food is absolutely delicious... Highly recommended the beef it just melts in your mouth. The portions size is amazing. The food arrives piping hot, service has always been fantastic... Other takeaways could learn a thing or two from them... Probably the best Chinese takeaway in Edinburgh...
Been 110% happy with Silver Bowl and have used them once a week for nearly 2 years but please guys revert back to the original Prawn Crackers, those new big round chunky ones are not nice and I now no longer add Prawn Crackers to my order and now have to make do with supermarket ready made. Please go back to the old style, I am sure I am not the only one who thinks this. Let's not start to spoil a perfect 110% review for over the last 2 years for the sake of changing to a less standard Prawn Cracker.
In my opinion, this is the best Chinese takeaway in Edinburgh.
Ok, that's a bold statement but let me tell you why.
The food is cooked to perfection and they out of their way to keep the customer satisfied.
Their delivery service is first class.
If they are running late, they call you and keep you updated (Normally always on time)
John always knows your name, which is a nice touch.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
The food is very tasty and price wise, is great.
If you want great food at reasonable prices, this is the place

Been ordering here recently, think it has most of the flavours the way I like them.
Got a chinese delivered last night, it arrived in a reasonable time and was hot. The online ordering was easy. The prices are reasonable. The curry sauce is the type that tastes a bit like a pot noodle nice 'n' spicy, so not my personal favourite but some people prefer it. Noodles/Fried rice were good. Sweet 'n' sour was nice.
I would give this place 10star's the young chow fried rice is the best. The king prawn dishes are fantastic, as many other dishes we have had the pleasure of scoffing. Best place in Edinburgh, a wee tad expensive not much though. But you pay for what you get, and that suits us. And its always piping hot. Plus the staff are friendly which makes a huge difference. Keep up the great service! ☺
The best chinese takeaway in Edinburgh - honest but no longer seem to accept card payment online (only option is cash) so sadly I can't use them often now. silver bowl, please put this option back!
Amazing Thai food - one of the tastiest Massaman curry's I have ever eaten! Hot, plenty of chicken, lovely Thai prawn crackers and delivered really fast too, by a friendly driver. Will definitely be ordering again in future when a craving for Thai next strikes!

We've recently moved near the area and as you do when you move, we needed some take out!
If you've read any of my reviews you'll know my OH is allergic to nuts, so we are very careful about getting take out, and have spent two years just simply not doing it (probably better for our waistlines!).
We decided to walk across the road and try Silver Bowl. I had delivery from there about 4 years ago and didn't think I was that impressed, but that may have been the delivery company.
We walked in and were not only greeted by very reasonable prices, quick and friendly service - they were fine when we asked about nuts in the recipe and when we got home to dig in - it was absolutely fantastic.
My meal consisted of the sweet & sour prawns in batter with fried rice and my OH had chicken & oyster sauce. Both were delicious and just the right size portions - we weren't left hungry, but weren't feeling ill either - which is a plus.
My only suggestion is less ginger in teh sweet & sour sauce - but that's really just a personal preference.
Looking forward to going back.
The place we regret not ordering from when we decide to try something different. Absolute phenomenal Thai food (comparable with restaurants like Thing Thai Caravan and even Passorn). The curries are just perfect and the Spicy Thai Salads are probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. A take away that uses premium fresh ingredients in all of their dishes. They do some offers as well on their website (often 10% off on their thai menu).
