Don’t be put off by the look of this small Indian restaurant as the food is really excellent. We choose dishes from the Dangal specialties list which were unique dishes prepared in house and were very tasty. (To often Indian restaurants buy in their sauces in big drums and throw in the meat/ veg).
We had the Ginger Chicken Spinach Leaf which was the one of the best unique dish I have had for a long time. The King Prawn Shakuti was a sweet contrast to the GCSL. The portions are a good size and I think having a starter would have been too much for us as we had a peshwari Nan and one pulao rice and were full afterwards. They don’t have draft beer but have cold bottles of Cobra so we were very pleased with the meal.
Habib who waited on us was very attentive and friendly. We arrived just after a party of 8 and we thought the service would be slow but after they had served them drinks they took our order and they rightly prioritised us over the group. Thank you for that Habib.
I only gave 3 stars to atmosphere as it wasn’t the best decorated restaurant or buzzing with life. But that doesn’t bother us. Good food is our goal! We were staying two nights in Edinburgh at the Holiday Inn up the road so this was a welcome find. If you do visit I recommend you ask Habib for his suggestion of their unique dishes. I hope more people find the Dangal and support this gem.
I had the lamb kolhapuri and it was excellent! The lamb was very soft and the sauce was extremely flavourful. The spice level was also prefect (medium) - just spicy enough to tolerate. The atmosphere was very warm and friendly.
Ordered lamb Rogan, Onion Bhajis & Tikka Panear. Still hot when it arrived all tasted fantastic highly recommended ordering from this place
I would like to appreciate all the staffs who took my order and prepare my food yesterday night at the last moment. I came from a tour after a whole day and came to the restaurant at almost closing time. Still they took my order without making it any delay and prepared the food very tastefully. The quality and quantity, both were perfect to me. I took pulao rice, chicken curry, Vindi vaji(I might not be writing the exact name but I showed them the menu), and the taste was awesome. I will definitely come again to this restaurant whenever I will be coming to Edinburgh. Thank you so much.
Habib was a fantastic host. Our food was delicious. Our bill was very affordable. It is a lovely restaurant to sit in with its roof decor and decorative tables. Thanks for another lovely meal, Dangal.
I am almost ordering 3-4 times in a week as this became my favorite restaurant. Great, tasty and hygienic food. Also, restaurant owner is very nice, polite and cooperative. Highly recommended if are looking for good Indian food.
Lovely vegetarian and gluten free meal. Very reasonable prices for Edinburgh. We very much enjoyed the aubergine masala which was delicious, lovely sauce. Very attentive and pleasant staff. Just been to the rugby & Scotland won, so this topped off a very enjoyable day.
One of the best Indian restaurants in Costorphine. The manager Habib is a very lovely lad, always been given a 5 star service. Food is very authentic and it tastes fresh all the times. Definitely recommend it to everybody if you want to experience something different to what you are used to!
Fantastic food, such lovely staff and not at all expensive. We were visiting Edinburgh for the weekend, next time we come to Edinburgh, we will definitely come again. Couldn't recommend highly enough.
I've only had takeaway from here but the food and service is really excellent. Really authentic and interesting menu options. Won't order from anywhere else. Great stuff and highly recommended 👍
