I had halibut and chips here tonight after arriving in Edinburgh. Took the bus there and then realized there wasn't any seating - it's strictly a takeway. There are some benches across the street, so I asked if I could sit there and if anyone would mind, but David the owner piped up to say he had a key to the business next door if I wanted to eat in the warmth and light there, which I accepted. I think the chips could have served three people, it's such a big portion. Well-seasoned and very tasty halibut with salt and vinegar (your choice). Fish was delicate like tempura, and wonderful, pleasant staff. Though I'm only here for 40 hours or so I may go back and try the monkfish.
They have a large vegan menu and the food is amazing to boot. I’m from the US and wanted a true fish and chips experience, but vegan, so it’s awesome that this place offers a bunch of vegan options—wish I could try it all!
We had the vegan tofish, cod fillet, and popcorn chicken and it was sooo good. Satisfying comfort food to take out and enjoy. The dips it came with were really good too. Tartar and katsu.
I appreciate how vegan friendly the UK is; SO MUCH more than the most vegan friendly places in the US. I’m jealous of your food and this restaurant is one of them that makes me envious! Wish we had this place where I lived.
Best fish and chips I’ve had for a good while if not ever. Very fresh, delicious, decent portions and reasonably priced. Make sure to have look at todays specials - tried hake for a first time and it was amazing ! Super friendly and welcoming staff, definitely will be back when visiting Edinburgh again.
Absolutely brilliant service. Left kids to car and got given a beeper to wait with them on the chips cooking.
When the chips came, they were the best chips I've had in Edinburgh. Crispy outside and fluffy in the middle.
More expensive than usual chippy, but worth it for great chips. Can't wait to see what the rest of the menu is like.
Simply the best place for fish and chips here in Edinburgh and absolutely one of the best in the whole UK, fresh food, many alternatives even many vegan options. Yesterday they ran out of a product that was in my order, and they called me to ask what i preferred to have instead; i wasn't expecting this so i didn't remember prices etc, the chef, who called me, said not to worry for the price cause it was their mistake. This is caring for your customers for real! So, i picked the most traditional option (that was obviously really good) and I had a perfect dinner even without my first choice, because (sorry if I'm repeating myself but they deserve it) everything is really good in this place and they are also really kind to customers, which honestly made my day. Thanks!

One of the best fish and chips I ever had. Place looked clean and tidy. Basically all the menu is gluten free!
The gentleman who delivered our food was very friendly, struck up a chat with our 2 year old. The food was hot, the batter was still crispy, and the chips were not soggy. Food tasted and looked fresh. Very impressed.
This place has a huge variety of vegan options as well as traditional ones. We tried the tofish&chips (loved it, the chips could be crunchier though) + the crab balls (too spicy in my opinion but very tasty). Onion rings are to die for and sweet potato fries are perfection. The prices are extremely reasonable.
Went to this place as it was recommended by someone. To be honest the best fish and chips I’ve had was at a place in north Berwick so this place had to be nearly perfect to match that.
The have a couple of chairs on the outside but it is essentially a takeaway shop. We asked them which one is a milder tasting fish and the people on the counter were quite happy with recommending what we should try
We went with the haddock and a bit of curry sauce on the side. The fish wasn’t too oily and was absolutely perfect. The fish was fresh and had a little bit of sweetness to it. The vinegar was such a perfect addition to it . I was absolutely amazed at how lovely the fish was
The chips were good too and the curry sauce was amazing ( it’s always amazing isnt it?)
It was surely worth the walk through the meadows to this place. I can surely recommend this to anyone who wants to have good fish and chips in Edinburgh. It’s gets a full 5/5 from me.
