a ceoliac and have been nervous eating out after several instances being ‘glutened’. Delighted to have found somewhere I can enjoy take out again ! My partner also thoroughly enjoyed his normal gluten filled fish supper. Thanks again!
It's not fancy, or particularly great food. But, it's open at 2am on my way home. So that makes them a hero.
Had a fantastic gluten free fish supper. Delicious and totally safe from a dedicated fryer. The staff couldn't have been nicer, and they even had a free-from bar of chocolate. Will definitely be back soon!
Best fish and chips I've had for ages. Fish cooked from fresh. Staff very friendly. Dog friendly too and gave me a doggy portion each for my two dogs. Would definitely be back when in the area.
We are in town on a vacation from the US, my son wanted authentic fish and chips. After checking around we found this restaurant. Due to not having transportation we had to have a place that delivered. The reviews for this place were great and they delivered to our hotel. There was small issue with our order but the owner/manager responded to my Google chat message quickly and addressed the problem. The food lived up to the reviews it was fantastic. Arrived hot even with the restaurant a few miles away in Edinburgh traffic. The haggis fritter (closer to a pie that a friter) was quite possibly the best we have had on our trip thus far, out of four times having it.
The staff here are always so friendly and accommodating. They take allergens very seriously so for someone who has coeliac disease they are a great option for eating out. The food always arrives on time, with huge portion sizes and always hot. Recently an item was missing from an order. The owner was kind enough to rectify this and hand deliver a new fresh order himself. Can’t wait to order again soon.
AMAZING!! I used to love Fish n Chips before I went vegan and their Tofish was really satisfyingly tasty and similar to the real thing. We ordered a lot of their vegan menu (chippy sausage, calamari, vegan haggis fritters, southern fried chicken burger, tartare sauce, curry sauce) and it all went down a treat! Chips were so nice too, proper chippy chips. Also LOVE that you can order classic Edinburgh chippy sauce BY THE BOTTLE. Definitely will be ordering from here again, it was also delivered quickly and had large portions so we were all full.
My friend & I purchased haddock suppers earlier to-day & they were absolutely delicious. Fish was really succulent, cooked to order in lovely crispy batter. Chunky chips were a great accompaniment. This was our first visit, but certainly won't be our last.... Well done #fish Haymarket.
The first time I have tried "salt and sauce" and it was amazing! The fish and chips were delicious and reasonably priced. However, the downside was how long it took to get our food...the place was due to open at 4.30pm, the staff were still prepping at 4.45pm before finally letting us in and even then the chips weren't ready.
So either open at 5pm and be ready to go immediately or be better prepared and ready to go at 4.30pm as stated.
Definitely recommend but not if you're in a rush!
Our new favourite chippy! These guys are fantastic! The food is absolutely delicious. They have plenty of vegan options — highly recommend the tofish. The staff went out of their way to help us when we messed up our order (even though it was totally our fault). Can’t thank them enough. We’ll definitely be back!
