Was recommend this charming restaurant with a short walk away from the Edinburgh castle. The sourdough bread was so soft and delicious that I forgot to take a photo of it. Had the pasta as the main course and it was so fresh that I’m happy to admit that it was one of the best I ever had. The atmosphere of the friendly is cosy and the staff are friendly and engaging. Highly recommend and will definitely return when I’m in Edinburgh the next time! 😎

Delicious dinner and just recognized that their menu changed almost everyday. Their sourdough was one of the best we ever had. Sour with the best crunchy crust. Ox heart was just outstanding and the desserts were perfect. Located at the corner so quite easy to find. Staffs were helpful. Foods were delicious, although the portion size was quite small. BTW, the pork skin snack costed 4 GBP and looked quite expensive for us.

Excellent meal for two in relaxing bistro style setting. The service was friendly, effective and unobtrusive. Food was excellent, beautifully cooked, and served in generous portions. The wine was good quality and not too heavy on the price. Nearly ordered another portion of the almond tart as it was so good!

Stumbled across this hidden gem of a bakery/ cafe. An amazing selection of artisan bread and pastries. Good coffee too. Amazing location and well worth a visit.

Delicious food. The sourdough is the best you’ll ever have! Chewy and sour with the best crunchy crust. Ox heart was just outstanding and the desserts were perfect - would have had thirds of the trifle.

The amazing quality of the textures in both the dough and the fillings is truly remarkable. We loved this place!!

Great experience on a Sunday afternoon at The Palmerston. Busy that day with couples and groups. Staff certainly kept busy! Food was great. Full of flavour and hearty. Just what we needed on a cold wet day (hey it's Edinburgh). Meat courses in particular were the stand out. Dessert for us the weakest. Word of warning. My initial 3 choices for each course had sold out! But there was enough range in the menu to substitute. Overall, worth a visit...just make sure you get there early.

My visit was brief, as I only stopped in for coffee and cakes, but I was immediately impressed by the look and feel of the place. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with tasteful decor and comfortable seating areas. The coffee was outstanding, with a rich and full-bodied flavour that hit all the right notes. And the selection of pastries was lovely, with a range of options to suit all tastes and preferences.

Ticked all the boxes. We loved our perfectly balanced cocktails, and the food tasted great, too. Amazing sourdough and butter! Team took time to chat to us and recommend things to eat and drink in the area. Relaxed space and quality dinner.

Stunning elevated causal dining experience in a beautiful setting. Fantastic service from knowledgeable and helpful staff. Delicious bread and butter on arrival. The food wears it's influences on its sleeve with a clear nod to Fergus Henderson in St Johns. Elevated British fair executed to a perfect standard. Wine list felt a little lacking with too much focus on Natural Wine but that's just personal preference.

On 30th December, I had my breakfast at this restaurant. All fresh baked breads were very good! All staffs were also very kind as usual. I will come again tomorrow of NYE for my breakfast. Thank you! On 9th December, I had a Lunch in there with my wife. All staffs were very good. Especially, one lady was very kind. All our ordered dishes were also very good. We are very much looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you!

Friendly young staff, great service and the food was to die for. Slow cooked loin was melting in the mouth and the Choux bun, roast apples was a dream. Great selection of wines. Only four stars for the food, while it tastes great, the portions are rather small.

Later edit : one year later and this place is still the most welcoming, friendly and having the beau bakery/ patisserie and coffee in Edinburgh! The place to be especially in the weekends! The most amazing bakery products you can find in Edinburgh ( far better than most Parisian ones ) , the loveliest people working there and the food is just incredible. Something to try while In Edinburgh 🥰 A big shoutout to Spencer and Rebecca and the entire team as they are doing incredible work and are super nice

Had an early dinner here with 3 friends this evening at 6.00. We arrived nearly half an hour early and we’re given a very warm welcome. Loved the very interesting and concise menu. The food was utterly delicious, the service was faultless and on top of all this they support the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation which is a brilliant charity supporting Motor Neurone Disease. Really beautiful room and wish I lived in Edinburgh to come more often. The wine list is extensive and great breadth of choice. Absolutely loved it.

Very friendly services. Casual atmosphere make you feel relaxing. Value for money the 3 course set lunch we ordered. Portion was generous. The red wine and lamb we ordered were okay but not superb.
