Me and my wife were on honeymoon near edwinstowe and got recommended this pub by a local. We were delighted with the food it was delicious. Food was priced really well and would happily have eaten more but unfortunately I was full after my meal. I would recommend this pub to anyone passing by as we were. Lovely staff and food. Will definitely come here again If we are ever in the area again.
After a good dog walk in Sherwood Forest we decided to find somewhere for a good lunch, and a quick websearch told us that the Royal Oak welcomed dogs and muddy boots.
We were indeed made very welcome, and had a delicious meal, and 5e staff even provided our dogs with treat while we ate. There was a real fire heating the room, and we enjoyed our meal.
Called in for Sunday lunch with family.
The waitresses were all lovely and pleasant.
I actually had fish and chips and they were so nice better than I've had from a fish and chip shop.
Wow, I read good reviews but did not expect it to be this good! The chips tasted like they'd been slowly roasted then fried, the pizza was as good as any we have had in Italy and my cauliflower dish had serious Thai flavour and actually felt healthy to eat! The burgers (if we ate meat) looked incredible as did the mushy peas, the pies and mash..
If you are the area... definitely worth a visit.
The Royal Oak has a very welcoming atmosphere has soon as you enter through the doors.staff are friendly and there are a great selection of drinks on offer.the food menu is excellent and the food tastes absolutely beautiful and well presented a credit to the chef. there is a fab atmosphere and gets really busy so would recommend booking a table if there is a party booking for food. During the warmer months there is a great seating area to the front so you can enjoy a drink and watch the world go by. Highly recommend 👌
A very good meat pie with mashed potatoes and lovely ale made my evening complete. Nice staff and lovely atmosphere didn't make the shake any worse
They found us a table at short notice in the dog friendly end. The food was nice, apart from my wife's beef, which was tough, but the manageress reflected this in the bill. The service between the main course and the desert was a bit slow. But it was very busy.
Great food, well worth the wait
I've had a vegetarian roast and my partner has the beef roast. Both were delicious
The staff were lovely and the place was very clean and well looked after.
After hiking in Sherwood Forest we decided to have lunch at this beautifully decorated pub which is about a 5-minute walk away from the forest main car park. Many details on the walls remind you of trees. The staff is really friendly. They have a varied menu, suitable for all tastes.
We had fish and chips, beef pie and a Caesar's salad. Lovely food. A place to stop by.
Had a late lunch here for the first time and we we very impressed, even though it doesn’t look like much from the outside compared to posher looking gastro pubs this place over delivered on the food and service. In particular the short rib and Mac and cheese was great and one of the best pub burgers I have had in a long time, it’s nice to have a burger you can taste rather than the extras inside it. Highly recommend this place.
Very good food decent service. Nice atmosphere
A lovely Sunday roast. I had turkey and others had beef- clean plates all round. The beef was a little too pink for my liking.
Friendly and efficient staff.
It’s not cheap but it’s quality and you get good portion sizes.
