This is one of my favourite pubs in the world (been coming for 34 years). Superb beer, great food (I recommend the Lamb Henry) with no ponciness (is that a word?). Lovely staff and you can't beat the ambience or location. Constantly changing beer selection in addition to the old favourites (mine is Bluebird). Their cottages are also lovely and the staff bent over backwards to help out when we had queries.

Absolutely perfect meal out for me and the mrs .as usual first class staff and food could not fault one bit.would recommend to any one after a cozy warm friendly pub in the heart of the lakes even if it’s just for a pint.

One of if not the best pub in the glorious Lake District No TV, no music, no gaming machine but wonderful beer, tasty food, friendly staff and good accommodation

We have just really enjoyed 2 midweek nights at The Brit. Room 3 at the front of the pub is great with its enormous bed and the separate bathroom is no big problem. Very dog friendly which was great for us. It does get very busy at meal times but for good reason and the place is so well run and the staff so friendly and efficient we loved every minute. We’d definitely go back. Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely, warm, friendly pub, great staff, beer and food. Sticky toffee pudding a must, but one between two is enough!!!!

Currently staying at The Britannia Inn, extremely busy place, i take this as a good sign. Food is amazing, never experienced such a feast of a breakfast like the one here. Lovely room, although a popular drinking place rooms were quite.

A lovely old Lakeland pub, with comfortable clean rooms, good beer selection, good wholesome food, friendly and attentive staff and sensible prices. A place for nice people who don't have expectations beyond their budget!

Traditional pub with a relaxed vibe. We had dinner in the bar which is first come first served and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Good selection of local golden ales. Prices seemed fair considering the location. Lads behind the bar were friendly and welcoming to all. Food arrived very promptly on a busy bank holiday weekend.

Iconic pub in a glorious place. Breakfasts superb, serving local produce. Evening meals excellent, imaginative, some healthy, some indulgent. Service extremely accommodating, asked for more veg no chips, no problem. How a busy pub can serve perfectly cooked asparagus and long stemmed broccoli is new to me but they did! Bedrooms modern and comfortable. We love it here.

Wonderful old Lakeland pub oozing history, set in beautiful Elterwater. Can get extremely busy, but out of season was fine. Great selection of well-kept locally brewed cask ales.

Lovely old pub, fabulous staff, amazing breakfast. The only little things I would change: 1. be careful not to park outside the pub around the green as you will get a parking ticket, ( think they should let you know when you book in) their car park is down the road about 100yrds away. 2. They Cleaned the room but didn’t straighten the under sheet of the bed, any of the nights we stayed. 3. The last night, we had no shower gel, conditioner or shampoo..

We were told by a friend to stop off here for a pint and something to eat. He said it a lovely Pub with a great atmosphere and he was right. We spent a good few hours sitting outside in the warm March sun soaking up the rays and drinking excellent pints of local beer.

Lovely pub for lunch - we came with the kids after climbing Loughrigg Fell. Great (both in taste and size!) sausage sandwiches and chips. Lovely inside and out.

Called in for a drink while walking in the area. Went back a couple of days later for lunch. Food came quickly and staff friendly. drinks expensive and if you book a table in the even they add a 10% holding fee, just encourages non booking.

Fantastic place to drink! Even better to eat. Staff are excellent! Halloumi starter was the best we've ever had. Clean, cosy, and was a perfect day. They made my 60th birthday a delight. Even set the table for 3 people so I wouldn't guess the surprise of my family driving up from London. Thank you! We will be back!

Enjoyed our room and the breakfasts were excellent. One complaint ...as we had our dog with us we weren't allowed in the dining room and we had to eat in the bar. As residents we expected we could reserve a table for dinner in the bar area which is tiny with only 4 tables, but no. We had to competes with day visitors who took all the tables so we had to wait and wait and hope for a table to come free before food service stopped. That's just not on.

We stayed in Elterwater for a week and this was a great pub to have on our doorstep. Great selection of cask ales, log fires, and certain rooms dog friendly. We stopped here for a post walk beer a few times and ate one evening. Some excellent specials - I had a particularly good shoulder of lamb. Gets very busy in evenings - deservedly so

A warm and cosy place with multiple seating areas. Great staff, hardworking and very friendly. We paid £70 for a nice and tidy room with a renovated bathroom. Breakfast was included, you could choose whatever you want. We had a tasteful full english breakfast with jus and coffee and tea. A great inn! One to remember.

Our first visit and stay was absolutely perfect. Our room was lovely, really clean, comfortable and a great bathroom. We had beautiful Autumn weather which made our walks around Elterwater and the Langdales, wonderful. So pretty. The food and Ales were all top notch. 5* Breakfast We will be back.

A fantastic pub in a great location. Lovely beer, including their own and a great food menu that is reasonably priced. A must visit if you're in the area and like a good, proper pub.

Final stop of our walk up Loughrigg Fell, so greatly in need of liquid refreshment. Some excellent choices available! 🍺🍺 Able to take in the great views while relaxing. Very busy as you would expect, but service was quick and friendly.

Dinner 8:15 PM Thursday. Arrived late/impromptu (like most pubs in the area they do not take table bookings). Good service. Told that the kitchen shuts at 8:30. Quickly ordered. They adapted the menu for my vegetarian son, and our food arrived quickly. Roast salmon, selection of vegetables and new potatoes. Deep fried halloumi with salad. Freshly cooked and extremely good quality. Highly recommend. Better than the Wainwrights' Inn in neighbouring Chapel Stile, where we were served a cold lamb burger earlier in the week… obviously meaning that they reheat meals in a microwave.
