A great pub with heaps of history. We had the 1/2 chicken Sunday roast which was a good size serving with lots of vegetables. If you are a big eater would definitely recommend. The service was prompt and the waitress came half way through our meal to ask if everything was okay. Happy Customer.

The food was beautiful and the drinks were poured very nicely, lively Guinness I must say. The young lady who made my experience was called aria and helped guide me through the menu for all my allergies. Would recommend 10/10

Atmospheric and historic pub in the heart of Exeter. Busy and bustling with lots of interesting corners and spaces upstairs and down. Staff welcoming, friendly and efficient. Good range of real ales (for a Greene King house) including the Ship Inn Ale - a tasty traditional bitter that is quite light on alcohol at 3.2. Interesting menu, with well cooked tasty food at decent prices for a city centre location. Good sized portions, particularly the steak and ale pie, which remarkably is an actual pie (as opposed to the usual dish with a bit of puff pastry on top).l Thoroughly enjoyed our two visits during a recent visit to Exeter. Also - very dog friendly. 🐕

This is my fave pub of all time, and the person who made me feel this way was Aria.I could sense her aura from outside the pub and it drew me in. Her customer service was 10:10. She was friendly, lovely and I’d even say the nicest person I’ve ever met. I love this pub and I love aria

MUST VISIT!!! We've had 3 awesome nights in the Ship Inn. Karaoke night on Friday was a blast!! Wonderful atmosphere and we've been treated like family since arriving on Friday. The staff is absolutely awesome and they make great drinks. The Abbot Ale is the best I've had ANYWHERE in the U.K. Come here for a tasty meal or nightcap, you will love it!! 🙌🏾 ❤️

Lovely pub in the center of Exeter near St. Peter. Sir Francis Drake used to take a pint or two there. We ordered via the Greene King App (first timer), and everything went better, than expected: fast response, good food. I had the salad with chicken, which was to my surprise a bit spicy. Not what I was expecting, but something I really liked! The Butternut soup was too mild, in my opinion. Nothing some pepper can't change. Overall: the service was excellent and the food was delightful. Two thumbs up!

The food was absolutely fantastic. The gravy was superb, the real stuff, not from a packet. Steak was cooked to perfection and the macaroni cheese wonderful. Staff friendly and very attentive and the historic building amazing.

Nice interior and good food! You feel the history and age of the place. We had the favourites platter as a starter which was quite a lot. Then we shared a fish & chips and a steak and ale pie. Both were good but the portions quite large.

Excellent Friday night here with DJ playing cool songs in between punters getting up to do their best at karaoke. A young crowd of party-goers made the atmosphere really cool.

A lovely old pub in the centre of Exeter, it's located down a skinny alleyway. The food was good and reasonable priced. The staff were very welcoming.

Urban pub with charm, attended by charming people. Exeter deserves a more lasting visit (I include two photos of the pub’s vicinity), but the bloody pandemic hindered that and others. So, although this stop was only a technical one, we were lucky to find two other restaurants (of a more “formal” kind) fully booked. The boss enjoyed her toasty chicken sandwich, and my rump skewer was not bad at all. They have Rioja. Coming from London area, we even loved the prices. Congratulations to all the hospitality sector in Exeter, and to this pub in special.
