I would just like to say a big thank you for letting us book with you for good friday for me and my family at 5pm especially as you dont usually do bookings other than for a sunday lunch. The table was all laid out and ready for us when we got there and we even arrived a little earlier to :-) When we come to Fairbourne from Birmingham we always pay a visit to your bar and grill as the food is always good and the girls love to play in the arcade, but this time when we came the food was ecceptional. We had a very good night to and the cocktails was lovely. Thank you once again for accommodating our needs, for a lovely evening and a fantastic meal :-)

Very quiet for a half term - but food and incredible specials were delicious! Such good food & portions for a random spot! Well worth a visit with the family!

Away on holiday so had a day out in Barmouth and Fairbourne. Had a look on Google reviews for places to eat and saw a review with good ratings a few weeks ago on Penrhyn Bar and Grill so we decided to give it a try. I went for the reviewer’s food choice, barbecue pork rashers, great choice whilst the other members of our group also enjoyed their meals. A must visit if you’re in the area. Also a mention of the brilliant background 70’s music.

One of the highlights of a trip to Fairbourne is a meal at the Penrhyn Bar and Grill. You can sit inside or out, the food is always delicious, hot and the plates are always well filled. There's a choice of the local Purple Moose ales on draught which is reason enough to visit. The Aber Falls spirits are definitely worth an explore. The bar is better stocked than a lot of much larger places. It's very family and dog friendly and they've accommodated our son's dietary requirements each time we've been which is greatly appreciated. Food wise I personally recommend the vegetable lasagne, the fish (plaice), chips and peas, the steak and ale pie and any of the sponge puddings with custard.

Absolutely fantastic lunch and very filling. They have a specials board with so much to choose from, I opted for the bbq belly pork, totally amazing the best I've had in a very long time, it just fell apart. My other half had the rib eye steak. Again fabulous.... they do give you large portions so loosen your belts 😍 little steam train passes by frequently. Would most definitely go back again 😁

A good option for a late meal when staying in Fairbourne or Friog. We arrived at 8.20pm and were served quickly with classic pub fare - burgers and chips all round! Portions are generous and staff were friendly and helpful despite us arriving right at the end of food service. Located a short walk from the beach, it's a great indoor alternative if the weather isn't good enough for fish and chips on the beach.

Fab home cooked traditional pub food. Lovely roaring fire. Much better than the photos online, far exceeded our expectations. Staying in Fairbourne for a week and eaten here twice already, minted lamb first time and Chinese pork steaks the 2nd time. Chips are proper chips, lovely fresh side salad with coleslaw, and then followed by sticky toffee pudding and custard, delicious. Hubby had burger followed by ice cream sundae, which he thoroughly enjoyed too. Great coffees to finish off too. They welcome dogs, walkers, etc. We will definitely be back.

I have used this Bar now for a number of years with my family! And visit regular with my children! I have read some of the recent nonsense reviews about the staff! This is a very family and child friendly bar. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly. The fact of the matter is the negative reviews are simply from people visiting intent on taking the mick!! This is not a picnic area or public toilet! and anyone visiting surely understands it’s not acceptable to eat your own food, drink your own drinks or help yourself to anything else provided by the Bar free of charge for paying customers!! The Bar offers a perfectly good selection of food and drink to purchase for adults and children! And I would recommend anyone in the area visits to see for themselves, it’s a great location to end a day on the Beach.

Lovely pub RIGHT near the beachfront, corner of a road with arcade/ice cream shop entrance on one side (road) and pub entrance just round the corner (same building). Seems a good idea for adults wanting entertainment for their kids and relaxation in the sunshine for themselves! As non-parents we really enjoyed it too - relaxed atmosphere with lovely staff and a good selection of drinks, love that the spirits have prices on - fiance fancied trying a couple of new things (we've been trying to drink less beer to be less bloaty!) And this really helped. The pub is dog-friendly (outside at least from what we saw) and plenty of cyclists stopping off for refreshments on their travels too. The steam train station is almost directly opposite the road with the train passing by the pub every couple of hours (depending on time of year/schedule). Lovely to watch from the pub and also a close attraction for kids and adults - we walked to Barmouth, caught the train back and of course stopped up the pub after! This does appear to be the only pub in Fairbourne (unless we missed others) but they don't take advantage of this fact and do a really good job of making it special for everyone visiting. We felt warm and welcome here so kept coming back (rather than just sitting at the place we were staying at). Also ordered food yesterday (both got the mega chicken burger) which was ENORMOUS but absolutely divine, so worth the food coma afterwards 😂 would have loved to try more menu items but sadly ran out of time whilst on our trip. Definitely worth a visit (or five!) Thanks for making our trip extra special 💕

After looking at Google pics of the outside we were slightly disappointed to see it in the daylight being a little weather beaten. Once inside though the place looked lovely and welcoming especially the bar area. Dogs are allowed if that either bothers or reassures you. There is plenty of room should you want to eat away from people with dogs? Ordering at the bar we ordered a pint of Corrs and a latte, pie and chips with gravy plus chicken curry, 50/50 chips/rice, 2 small nan breads, large poppadom with mango chutney. My curry portion (approx £10.95)size was definitely larger than anywhere else that I've previously ordered from and a great taste. The pie and chips (approx £10.95) was a good size too but maybe slightly more gravy needed. The place needs a slight update but that's just my personal opinion. Nearest carpark in right opposite with a charge but free for cars showing a blue badge.
