Stopped in the Cafe whilst touring on a bike. Very clean area and typical menu, although of good quality. It made we want to visit the military site on another occasion.

Well, entrance to the museum and Fort are free, so you expect the cafe to be a bit expensive. It was, but not that expensive. After all they need to make some money somewhere don't they. Only problem I had was the noise. It's all very open and if your hard of hearing, that means getting old and going deaf it is hard to hear anything. But generally it's worth visiting the cafe and shop because it supports the Fort.

Fort Nelson was better than expected - we thought it would just be a Fort and some cannons, which in many respects it was but there was an assault course for the children, lots of rooms, information and tunnels to explore. The cafe was great too, which always helps.
We easily spent two hours with our two young children, without exploring any history or reading much about the big guns / cannons.
It's well worth a visit for young and old alike :)

Fort Nelson has a great adult course you have to pay but once you have a band you can come and go. They have a little quiz which means you have to do full areas to get clues....hardest one was at a bottom off a Spirl stairs (outside) to find. Staff are always very polite and do a great job. There is cafe and a refreshment hub outside now great idea. Fort Nelson is always clean.
Only complaint this time lift was not working so NO disabled access to museum. ONLY TOP OUTSIDE PART.

The staff and management have improved the visitor experience here a lot since re-opening. The silhouette experience was thoughtful and moving, the wind gently blowing the silhouettes on the skyline was an effect that has to be experienced. Its a shame the cafe has greatly reduced its hot food menu, but the only choice baked potatoes are well presented and service is good. A good day out for all age ranges.

A great display of those who paid the ultimate price to protect the peace. I am privileged to have visited to pay my respects. When I walked into the display, it brought back memories, and I shed a tear for my friends who have paid the same price during my service to the crown.

Lots to see. We come here quite often because the coffee is very good 👍 Today there wasn't a great deal of choice of cakes but the raspberry sponge was fresh and good.

Went a quiet time of day. Guides were helpful, tours were available. Not of activities going on today but the primary school kids were being taught by period actors.

Although it is a bit on the pricey side, the members of staff are extremely kind, friendly and polite. They make an effort to keep the place neat and they engage in great conversations with the customers. They are genuinely nice people.

The cafe within Fort Nelson's visitor centre called cafe 1871, is a good place to grab some refreshments before or after you’ve explored the fortress and Royal Armouries museum. As well as tea and coffee, it serves light meals including soups, baked potatoes and toasted sandwiches as well as delicious cakes and muffins. It's a fairly modern cafe with free WiFi and seating both indoors and outside with great views.
