Excellent food, had Sunday roast with beef and a veggie lentil roast with fresh veggie sides, and delicious cauliflower cheese. Sat in the back in the patio with our two dogs, it’s super charming and cosy inside as well. Lovely staff. Great spot for a meal.

Very good roast dinner, just slightly dry Yorkshire puddings. Our group enjoyed our Sunday late afternoon visit sitting in the outside courtyard. Very friendly and polite staff! Relaxed atmosphere.
After finding this place on Google and seeing the great reviews, I booked it for a family meal. Andrew was great and answered all my questions beforehand. From the moment we arrived, we were given a very warm welcome, the setting was lovely and the food that followed was incredible. I highly recommend the beef roast! Fantastic roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding. Will definitely be coming back again!

Best pint I’ve found yet in Essex (as an Irish man I know my stout!). Food menu is outstanding and the Sunday roast is an absolute must! Extremely welcoming and hospitable staff, a credit to owner Andy and a special mention to staff members Nina and Helen who without doubt always cater to your required needs. Biased I might be but it’s without doubt the best establishment in the county!
Lovely gourmet pub with food that is always delicious and service with a smile. We eat here at least every couple of weeks and have always had great experiences. Lovely open fires in winter too.
Just had an excellent Sunday lunch here with family. The roasts are very good but if that's not your thing the specials were perfect. I had salt and pepper squid with chilli sauce and for my main halibut which were both amazing. The wine was excellent; 2 very good roses and a very good choice of real ales. Very good value for money, parking and garden for the summer... What more could, you ask for!? We will definitely be back for more 👍
Food was delicious, both carnivore and vegetarian options were delicious. Super dog friendly. We visited en route to a holiday rental, and we're planning to return for the home leg.
First visit and definitely our favourite place for Sunday roasts. Meat just melted in the mouth and plenty of fresh vegetables. Deserts were amazing. Our guests raved over the food. Already booked for a revisit.
Really lovely food! We had gluten free stipulated on the booking but were not offered a gluten free menu until after we'd placed our order, and was told the meal that had been ordered contained gluten. Would be nice to have been offered the menu first time around, as no one checked there were any allergies or intolerances until after the order was taken. There was no mention of a gluten free menu online so we didn't know that one was even available.
However, it was sorted out very quickly and the staff are so helpful and friendly so it didn't matter too much. The service was very quick considering how busy it was, and the food was delicious when it came out.
Now that I know there is a separate gluten free menu, I can't wait to go back again!
