The Railway

Came here at the end of our walk. It's a very convenient place for a pint as it is right next to the railway station where we get the train home. I have eaten here a few times on previous occasions and always got the 3 course daytime special they do for under £12 which is excellent value for money. They also have a reasonable range of beers.

Popped in after our walk from Blundellsands/Crosby to Formby. WELCOME HAVEN FOR LUNCH & DRINKS (6) LADIES. We all commented on the delicious food and the reasonable prices. 😋 within walking distance for our return journey home. Welcoming accommodating Staff. Definitely return visit planned. WELL ✔ 👍 👌

Really like the Railway, but...I had booked in advance, a table for 4. 4 older ladies on our Christmas night out. The pub was really busy when we arrived, we were directed to our table, which needed cleaning (cloth and spray on the table), I do appreciate the pub was full, but.... We went to buy some drinks and asked for the Christmas menu, only to be told it needed booking in advance online ??? We ordered from the regular menu, food was good, but we were disappointed not having Christmas Dinner. I looked at Web site and couldn't find this stipulation. We had our Christmas do at the Railway last year, Christmas Dinner ordered on the night, not sure why different this year ? We made the most of the evening and it was okay.

We were travelling from Ainsdale to Liverpool for a concert, and everywhere we tried to book in Liverpool was fully booked, so we opted for stopping at Formby, as the pub was close to the station. The food and service was excellent and it was a great shame, that just after we'd finished our main course, and before we sample the desserts, Formby had a power cut! We will be back 👍

We visited The Railway on a Saturday afternoon, and our table was booked online. Upon arrival at about 12 noon, our table had been reserved. However, we were still able to select any of the free tables available, which we did. We ordered at the bar, and our meals of sausage and mash and 8oz sirloin steak arrived promptly. Regarding the food, although my steak had flavour, it was rather tough and chewy and was difficult to cut into, I was rather surprised by this, although I did eat it all and it was tasty. Maybe it wasn't aged long enough or a tough piece of meat that can happen. The beef dripping gravy was really tasty. The sausage and mash were tasty with good flavoursome sausages. The surroundings inside and outside are very nice, with a big customer car park. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would recommend this eatery to other folk.👍
