We visited The Railway on a Saturday afternoon, and our table was booked online. Upon arrival at about 12 noon, our table had been reserved. However, we were still able to select any of the free tables available, which we did. We ordered at the bar, and our meals of sausage and mash and 8oz sirloin steak arrived promptly. Regarding the food, although my steak had flavour, it was rather tough and chewy and was difficult to cut into, I was rather surprised by this, although I did eat it all and it was tasty. Maybe it wasn't aged long enough or a tough piece of meat that can happen. The beef dripping gravy was really tasty. The sausage and mash were tasty with good flavoursome sausages. The surroundings inside and outside are very nice, with a big customer car park. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and would recommend this eatery to other folk.👍

This restaurant was great! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I will say that the Eton Mess left a bit to be desired. It was practically just vanilla ice cream. It needed more meringue and fruit etc. And there was a sticky spot on my table. Other than that, it was great. Everyone had a good time, and the food was lovely.

Visited 13/04, for lunch, the pub wasn't busy and service was quick. The staff were OK, but the blonde hair lady serving food was very pleasant and friendly, we had two dogs with us and they were made very welcome without being over bearing, the food was pleasant and plentiful. The only down was the young girl behind the bar could learn to pull a pint of ale, would of been nice to have a head on it

Staff all very nice.
Very clean inside restaurant and bar.
Food and drink selection was very good. And compared to the prices down south we’re very reasonable.
Issue in the disabled/baby changing toilet where it looked like someone had flushed a nappy causing a blockage.
Once reported the staff dealt with it very quickly.

Good food, roast potatoes were a little dry but still edible. Thoroughly enjoyed the duo roast offer. The food coma hit me hard after walking out of the Pub 🤣

Was very disappointed today after the reopening, we booked a table for 1pm, my husband and I both ordered roast beef dinner, they had run out of Yorkshire puddings and when it came we asked were was the carrots, reply was oh sorry we've run out of them also.
The meal was only just warm, to say we were very disappointed is an understatement, we have eaten there several times in the past and was always lovely.
We revisited The Railway yesterday and the food was absolutely lovely will definitely be returning with our dogs, so I now have changed my star rating.

We had 2 meals from the main menu and both were fine. we had 2 pints of wainwrights and 2 pints of Carling lager, and again both were fine. I had an expresso Martini and it was very nice, my partner had a long island ice tea and it tasted weak. Staff were attentive, it's a very nice pub but it was cold in the bar and toilets.

Excellent customer service by all the guys today. Lovely food and lovely friendly atmosphere and really welcomed my dog. Will come again next time visiting my family!

I have been here alot and love the food, staff and atmosphere but unfortunately yesterday the food was good but had to wait along time for it. There wasn't enough staff and the place was full. I think there were only 2 in the bar and waiting on. The poor guy did well but felt sorry for him as he was meeting himself coming back.
The food was still nice and won't put me off going back, but perhaps whoever owns /managers might look into better staffing levels

We eat here with my father in law whenever we visit, even on Boxing Day. It has always been fantastic; food, staff, service, atmosphere etc. But yesterday the service was very poor and slow. We had to wait for our mains after the starters, and then for the plates to be cleared away. But having to wait nearly half an hour for 2 kid's puddings is not on. It wasn't overly busy as there were plenty of empty tables, so could only put it down to whether there was enough/the right staff on. But the food was still great & tasty.

Nice choice of beers and friendly bar staff. Avoid Tuesday evening however as they have a quiz night, and the balloon with the mic deafens everyone. Volume WAY to loud and uncomfortable. Definite conversation killer.
