So glad my sister told me about this place! I needed a good wifi connection but also something to eat after skipping breakfast, so Café 1496 ticked both boxes.
I had a hot chocolate and a couple of scones because I needed to leave space for lunch but all were absolutely delicious and really hit the spot.
It is quite busy and reservations are recommended if coming as a larger group.

Cafe 1496 is a beautiful breakfast venue with tranquil, quaint lighting. It delivers some incredible breakfast dishes, I had the popular breakfast burrito, it’s was absolutely amazing, the chorizo went great with the pork and eggs, I would expect something like this from a very posh restaurant! The staff were very welcoming and kind I would highly recommend this place and will be coming back again if we happen to pass

A beautiful little cafe/restaurant in Forres. Wide choice on their all day menu with lots of choice for gluten and dairy free. This large portion of gluten free pancakes with berry coulis were delicious and a steal at £7. And the tea, served in a china tea cup and saucer was a very civilized touch. I would love to return and try more.

Food was excellent! Service was mediocre, she just seemed annoyed that we were there, but she did her job so no real complaints- but it did keep it from being a 5 star experience. The soup of the day was phenomenal. I can't remember what it was called but it had sweet potato, corn, and some kind of spice that was just fantastic! I got smoked salmon which was so flavorful and just absolutely delicious.
