Love love love this place.
Stayed on the Island for a weekend break away from the kids but took the dog.
Came recommended to us, ended up going on Friday and Saturday night as the food and service was that good. Also stopped us having to drive anywhere to find food.
Do not miss this place. It will be on our list as a place of 'HAVE TO VISIT' when we return to the Island.
Well done to all staff for making this a must visit pub and grub stop.
Great food.
The best food in The West Wight. Beautiful proper little pub. Regular visitor. Cannot rate highly enough. A must do ! Chocolate Fondant is to die for !
We arrived just after 6pm having not booked a table but the staff were super friendly and found us a table within the hour. The food was lovely, highly recommend - maybe just book to be safe.
Edit - So good we went back for lunch the following day, did not disappoint!
I love this place particularly now that it has a new chef and menu. The food in the last year is nothing short of exceptional including classic pub dishes but also more unusual dishes e.g venison, stone bass. Usually at least one good beer on tap and lovely service. Beautiful setting and building too!
I was told it is rare to get a table for dinner without reservation - we have been lucky. The food was excellent! Mackerel as starter, Lamb as main were both delicious, sweets for dessert as well. Would love to eat there again!
Amazing food.
We didn't book a table, but as we arrived early they did have space. Food is served from 6pm. So glad we got a table as the food was delicious.
Focaccia is a must try! Simple but just done so well
Fantastic fried haddock and chips. Perfectly cooked. Steak and Ale pie was great. The gravy was delicious, as were the mashed potatoes. Service was great. It was a really good atmosphere. No loud music and a convivial crowd, young and old, was at the restaurant.
A beautiful country pub on rhe Freshwater waiy, half an hours walk from Yarmouth. Dog friendly inside and out.
2023. Stull an excellent pub with great food. No local beers but the Cornish ones were good. The food was exceptional, although we only stayed for lunch. Chicken liver parfait and steak ciabatta.
2022.Nicely kept beers, if it local IoW, and two good ciders, Weston and Stowford press on tap.
Food was first class. The sirloin ciabatta was lots of medium rare sirloin in a fresh crusty bread roll, highly recommended. The chicken parfait was very tasty, a bit more brioche would have been nice, though. The passion fruit creme brulee was really tasty, with lemon sorbet and lavender shortcake.
Staff were helpful and service very prompt. Prices average for pub food but the quality was really good.
Dog friendly inside and out.
Managed to fit us in even though they were fully booked, I do recommend booking and not just trying your luck, you may well be unlucky. the food was superb and well worth the wait easily one of the best meals I've ever had. The service was excellent even though it was busy the staff didn't seem rushed or stressed. l Loved it so much I've booked for another meal later in the week. Well worth 5 stars.
The best pub on the whole Island - the food, the staff, the location, what more could you want? Every meal I have ever had here has been exceptional, whether it's bursting at the seams or quieter, the quality is amazing.
The staff are all really friendly and welcoming and there is a great mix of locals, dogs and visitors, it has the balance just right. Would recommend to anyone.
Great pub, staff were friendly and attentive. Has great period charm. Beer selection was good. Steak ciabatta was spot on, melts in your mouth
The food was amazing. The beef crumpet was to die for and the gravy in the roast was incredible. I will definitely be back for a roast. Only negative was that we weee reminded continuously that we have to vacate the table at 8pm and there was a mix up with desserts but overall the staff were very friendly and the food was amazing. Very happy! Parking is helpful too.
