Each time I'm in the area I come here. Still the best ploughman's in the area. I had the veggie quiche ploughman's. Fabulous. As always a great selection of beer and cider.
Lovely pub, with big garden and in pleasent location on the edge of the New forest. Good selection of ales and beers. Theirs also a good selection of a ploughman's at fairly good value. This is a good starting point for some great walks
Wonderful ploughman lunch and the lemon cake with homemade lemon curd was incredible! Very friendly pub with a great garden and a view one wishes to wake up to every morning!
Quaint welcoming little pub. Delicious ploughman’s, ingredients are fresh. Saw on TV and definitely worth the hype. Friendly quick service. Only comment would be perhaps serve the food on larger plates. Will be returning!
It was a nice meal on a sunny day. The outside was a lovely setting, hearing the lambs bleating, watching the horses grazing, and the sparrows flying around. Ordered a sweet potato and feta quiche and honey glazed gammon. I wish there were more options but I think this was their lunch menu.
Who knew a ploughman's could be done in so many different ways. We ordered the pork pie, butternut squash and feta quiche, nettle cheddar and mackerel ploughman's. They all came with homemade Coleslaw, salad, roasted vegetables and pickled red onions and 2 with a sourdough baguette. Delicious 😋
Great country pub, think open fires, a warm atmosphere and genuine hospitality. I'm sad to read a recent review about grumpy staff; this was entirely the opposite of my experience. It's well staffed so there's never a wait, and all the interactions were lovely and open - felt like a wonderful team.
We went here today as a bank holiday treat and it did not disappoint. It was very busy as we expected but we found a table in the garden in the sunshine. We ordered 2 ploughman's, one with gammon and one with cheddar (so we could share and try both) and they were both delicious!! There was a little
A must if you're in the New Forest. Perfect pub garden vibe, super dog / horse friendly. Great selection of ales and the ploughman's is so good! My favourite place to visit on a sunny afternoon after a long walk!
Love this place but pick a week day if possible can be busy at the weekend. Walks nearby
The best Ploughman's Lunch ever...🙂. Really enjoyed our visit. Great selection of beers. Thanks 🙂
After a very long unexpected walk , we found the Royal Oak, we were recommended to come here and wasn't disappointed. The Ploughman's was amazing and great value. Will be coming and recommending as well.
A fabulous forest pub, great selection of beers and the food is amazing (ploughman). Friendly staff and a open fire, with plenty of room in an adjacent garden and gazebo. A must visit after a walk through the new forest at Fritham
Easily the best ploughman's in the New Forest, fantastic food very reasonably priced and good selection of beers, wine and cider. Garden is spacious and adjoins a farm so animals for the kids to look at (from afar!) and some great walks to/from the pub. A firm favourite
Just had a delicious lunch at The Royal Oak in the New Forest. The quality of their assortment of Ploughman’s is top class, wonderful ham, Pork pie, cheddar cheese, beautiful fresh salad with pickled slices of onions, veg and the Stilton on the side we ordered just made it exceptional. Everyone was
I would say what a great hidden pub in the new forest. But everyone seemed to know it was there apart from me. There is plenty of outdoor space. Food is limited to different options of Ploughman's, but it WAS GREAT. We will be back.
A small pub with a large garden, and that only serves ploughman's lunch but with a good range of alternatives. Outstanding cask ales behind the bar. Excellent ploughman's. Went twice in a week.
Went here some months back and I still think about it. Lovely friendly staff, banging ploughmans, but the beer is what I’ll remember. Best pint of ale I’ve had in years. It’s hard to find traditional English ales of this quality and if you’re a beer fan, I’d travel specifically for it. Amazing 🍻
Warm friendly pub, I had a fantastic Stilton cheese ploughman's accompanied by a lovely beer 🍺 I would recommend a visit
