Great pub, great service & the Sunday roast is amazing!! £10.50 for a mix meat plate with all the trimmings & extra sides too! This is the best & biggest roast dinner I've ever had... Oh & the Bailey's & Hob-nob cheese cake was a dream in my mouth!!! Shame it's so far from London.
Visited today for Sunday lunch. Staff were really accommodating, food was superb, lovely home cooked food, piping hot and really generous portions. Certainly one of the best Sunday lunches we have had locally. What a great friendly team they are, very welcoming and pet friendly. No wonder it was so busy. Be back soon.🤗🤗
Wonderful little old style pub with Sunday lunch great prices, brilliant atmosphere with the locals. Lovely landlord & lady & staff. Dog friendly,beer garden. Parking outside.
Bit shocked to read a post of dissatisfaction about Sunday Lunch at The Old Black Lion. We have had several lunches there and each time they have been excellent with great food, good healthy portions and a warm friendly service. I sincerely hope the posters review of a couple of weeks ago dog is well fed otherwise. Go Fido !!!!!
Great little pub , lovely atmosphere, was there for family member Birthday. Drinks reasonably priced, no food. They put on entertainment sometimes (singer) she is really good or theres a duke box there.
Found this little gem on the off chance and we are absolutely delighted that we did. The staff were extremely lovely and so friendly. The service was amazing, the food was cooked to order and this was evident, very impressive and extremely delicious. The portions sizes were huge and even our dog was catered for with lovely treats. Thank you to everyone who made us feel very welcome.
Popped into this Pub today whilst out on our pushbikes for a wee refreshment. Staff and locals were amazingly friendly and made us feel right at home.
We put the world to rights in the process 😆.

Myself and my family had the most enjoyable Sunday lunch today, the staff were most accommodating , after we had our meal/deserts we enjoyed a couple of drinks with the locals at the bar , putting the world to right. Defently recommend and hopefully return soon
A great belly full of food! Popped in here yesterday, great traditional pub complete with log burner blazing. Nice feeling greeted by friendly staff. Good choice of Sunday Dinner followed by puddings menu. Really nice pub, easy to get to and great service, would highly recommend to anyone looking for a hearty full lunch. Thank you to your team, will be visiting again.
