It was an amazing pub. We moved to the area only a few months back, and were sad to find out the pub was closing at the end of 2022. The hosts are amazing, they did everything to make guests feel welcome. We had an amazing Sunday lunch there (very affordable), and also visited 2 days before they closed to support our local pub and enjoy a banjo performance. I was also surprised to find how many social activities they offered, and was looking forward to tasting all those Belgian beers in the menu. Really hope that the pub reopens again!

Lovely little pub, steeped in history, linked to our Royal Navy. A warm welcome and good food to be had.

Very friendly Old World style corner Pub, relatively small, live music and sometimes street dancing, on my visit the Bishops Gundulf Morris dancers and musicians were visiting,so an extra enjoyable evening. Definitely will visit again. Easy to find with free parking in the evening.

After popping to some other local places we noticed, upon our walk back, that the George V had some music - the place looked interesting so we ventured in. Glad we did! This is the sort of pub that you sort of know exists but don't come across often. Plenty of naval and historical things to look at on the walls / ceilings, some live music playing and a good selection of drinks. Feels like a 'proper' pub. We visited late on a Sunday which is a shame as they have a free cheese and biscuit selection which we missed out on! There is not loads of space inside but the pub feels warm, nice people and fairly chilled.

Popped in here for Sunday lunch with the family after a wedding at the nearby barracks the night before. Well what a great decision that was. Lovely pub, great selection on tap and one of the best sunday roasts that we have ever had in a pub. Excellent, truly excellent.

This pub has really turned a recent corner since Leon the Spooky Bar- Weasel Manager went missing in legal action. Good beer, snacks and food. Warm and nice surroundings. Community feel to it as well. Excellent.

A fine and unexpected retreat that offers an old world atmosphere and a melancholic feeling of all the homely pubs you've had the good fortune to visit. Impeccable selection of drinks served by the pub manager Adam whom is the reason for which I return very regularly! His conversational acumen, professional welcoming approach, and clear robust experience is rare to the point of seldom crossed. Could not recommended enough!

So wonderful that the pub back in the owners hands and fully restored to its former historic self . The staff are wonderful and welcoming , the chef cooks great food especially the home made pies and the special - moules frites - better than any top restaurant . Value for money the food is great . The real ale selection is back to excellent . Highly recommend for a pleasant lunch or evening in a friendly local .

This is everything that you want in the local boozer - unpretentious, well priced, welcoming and easy going. Lots of Royal Navy history all over the bar linking to Chatham’s Royal Dock past. Utterly lacking in airs and graces - because it’s not trying to be anything other than a local pub.
