Great place for dinner. Great atmosphere and great food. The starters or small plates were excellent, much better than what you might expect from a steak restaurant. The pigeon was great and very well cooked. Could easily do small plate tapas style rather than have steak.
The steaks were excellent too and a decent size. Peppercorn sauce was quite creamy, more to my wife’s liking, I like a bit more peppery heat but it was still tasty.
The carrots side was excellent, you could really taste the difference between the different types of carrot.
I thought the brownie was a bit dry and couldn’t really taste the maple or bacon flavours from the menu but it was decent enough. My wife’s baked Alaska was fantastic.
The do great inventive cocktails too.
I would definitely go back for a quality meal in Glasgow.

My husband and I came here for dinner one night of our honeymoon in Scotland. The waitstaff were so pleasant, and they took the time to make little gestures like complimentary glasses of Prosecco before dinner and a “Congratulations on your honeymoon” display with our dessert.
Our waitress patiently answered all of our questions, and she took the time to talk to the chef when I, as a picky eater, wanted one of the desserts without half of its ingredients, and they figured out how to make a version I could happily eat.
The steak was cooked as we ordered, and my husband enjoyed his drinks. The dessert was good, maybe not great, but we were there for the main meal, and that exceeded what we were looking for.

Such an amazing dinner here, was all without fault! Staff were super attentive, friendly and all round nice people. Food was phenomenal, we went for a 75 day dry aged tomahawk and it's probably one of the best steaks I've ever had. Ever. If they've got a table, grab it!

The food, service and atmosphere were amazing. I had my steak with their heavenly mac and cheese, the portions were so generous I didn’t finish everything but they kindly allowed me to take it. The cocktails were divine, it made the whole experience perfect and worthwhile.

We always come back to Porter. We decided to spend our 1st wedding anniversary here and they made it very special ❤️ we were given a beautiful dessert stating “happy anniversary” which was a lovely touch. We got the Côte de Boeuf which was spectacular, every bite melted in your mouth. Hands down the best steak I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to Steaktown, Mississippi! If you want steak done properly, I cannot recommend Porter enough.

Welcoming staff and friendly atmosphere. Delicious Sunday Roast menu. Every element combined to make a flavoursome feast. Highlights, Ox Cheek - honestly, kudos for getting that onto the plate in one piece, melt in your mouth decadence, Bone Marrow Gravy, Yorkshire Pudding - Spongy texture that was perfect for soaking up the gravy and not just push it around the plate, Garlic Mash, Charred Shallot, Scotch Broth starter with Bread and Butter. Expertly considered dishes where each ingredient has been enhanced. This isn't your average Sunday roast, hold off on the seasonings, trust the kitchen.

Great steaks, amazing service, and a beautiful wine list. Perfect atmosphere for a steak place, honestly very little fault. The second best steak I’ve ever had - which is more credit to the best, than it is disparaging of Porter & Rye. Recommend my own choice - fillet, with blue cheese sauce, and truffle salt fries.

The food is correct but not worth the price and even though it is already really expensive there has been a big confusion when came the moment to pay where the waiter told us that 60 pounds were missing when we all had paid what we owed. I truly believe that we have been robbed! I will never put one foot again into that place; Disgrace!

My friend and I stopped in and had a great time. Service was incredible and our waiter gave us tons of cool places to check out on our trip. Food was amazing with tons of attention to detail and lots of flavors. Under £40 for 5 small dishes to share with 2 beers which is incredible for the quality of food. Only comment is that the small plates were a little smaller than I was expecting but hard to fault them as the food was so good.

Porter & Rye is the sister restaurant of The Finnieston , just a few doors down the road and is the latest venture from Kained Holdings who also own Lebowski’s and The Crafty Pig. The restaurant itself wouldn’t look at all out of place in London…exposed brick walls, tiled floors, filament lightbulbs, a dry-ageing cabinet in the bar area with cuts of meat hanging in it… It was packed full, even though it had opened just 9 days earlier. Word has obviously got around. Maggie was especially excited to be out as it was her first night out she’d had since she had her beautiful baby girl Katie 3 months ago. So when I arrived, Maggie was already at the table, studying the menu. Our waitress was delightful and immediately talked us through their cuts of meat. However, Maggie and I weren’t really in the mood for steak so we decided to order a selection of small plates and sides. We also ordered a bottle of Malbec but the waitress suggested that might not work with what we ordered so she expertly talked us through the wine list until we decided on another bottle of red. The first dish that jumped out at us was Pan-Fried King Scallops with citrus beetroot tartare, seaweed and scallop roe salt, lemon foam and grapefruit gel (£14.95). I asked how many scallops you get in a portion and I was told there were 3. The waitress did explain that they were hand-dived scallops from the Ethical Shellfish Company, caught fresh every morning off Mull. These were beautiful…huge, tender, juicy, meaty, perfectly cooked and the beetroot tartare added a lovely zesty earthiness to them. The Free-Range Kilduncan Farm Crispy Duck Egg served

Delicious! From the huge slabs of meat hanging in view in the fridge to the selection of steak knives - Porter and Rye know their stuff.

Mouth watering rump steak and the bacon mac and cheese side is the best I've had.
Blown away from start to finish. Under £100 for me and the Mrs and that's 3 courses bottle of wine and a cocktail each. Besides the money the food was at a level I wasn't expecting. I tried a bavette steak for a wee change n it was so tasty. Can't wait to visit again.
