Pizza East

This place seems to be trying the recreate Neapolitan pizza in the east end of Glasgow, if so they are doing it really well. I don't want to sound patronising but some people confuse Domino's with authentic pizza so it's important to split out the difference. I was in with a party of six, two of them were disappointed as there were limited toppings (no spicy chicken or donner meat!) and that the pizza was undercooked (based on the middle being a little soggy). The rest of us had been to Italy, sampled traditional pizza before and knew that these things were by design - pizza should have limited toppings as its a balanced act of flavours and not everything works. It's often a little doughy in the middle due to the balance act of getting the top crispy but the base fluffy. These guys use the right flour and offer the right toppings (although go a little heavy in h the parma ham in my opinion!) for a traditional pizza experience - thy doesn't mean its to everyones tastes but I found it top class. Only issues were the lack of big tables (no drama for a group of four or less) and the price/lack of selection of soft drinks - pretty much Cola or San Perigrino for about £2.50 a can. Would get a takeaway from them next time to resolve both. And there will be a next time

Nice setting reasonable price specials are always worth a look. Some Pizza can get a bit sloppy to the middle depending on topping as with many of the thin based italian ones, but the B. Y. O. B. makes it cheapest restraunt on Duke st if you are going to drink. 2 for 1 takeaway on a Monday is also great. Far nicer than Pizza hut, dominos or papa johns.

Good quality fresh pizza. So tasty and great value. Made to feel welcome. Good values too . Saw them give someone a free pizza unwanted by another customer on a 2 for 1 deal. Thought that was real decent of them. And saw them treat an old drunk guy who was in for dinner with real gentleness and dignity. Even helped him cut it up. Huge respect for the staff there.
