Don't let the decor put you off it looks a bit tired when you 1st go in . But the staff are absolutely lovely and the food is amazing . Drinks menu is great with cocktails, beers and nice wines.
Really looking forward to trying Sunday lunch .

Great food - interesting and tasty dishes. I'm not really into fine dining so thought the prices were a bit high. Lovely atmosphere and service.

This was our first time at Hyssop and oh boy will we be back! The staff made us feel very welcome and relaxed and we started the meal with an aperitif. My wife had the Hyssop Royale and I had an Aperol Spritz- delicious!
We were advised to order several small plates each and so I opted for four and my wife opted for three.
Stone bass with asparagus, scallop and Thai curry Cod with butter curry sauce and toasted nuts.
Char sui bacon "butty"
Derbyshire Beef with greens and pepper sauce.
Hyssop focaccia with herb butter
Salt baked celeriac with onion, orzo and mushroom.
Slow cooked Jersey royals with black bomber and walnut
Oh my gosh, the food was absolutely lovely. The food comes out as it's ready, so as you're talking there is a constant supply of deliciousness arriving.
Particular highlights for me were the slow cooked Jersey Royals which were lovely and the herb butter which was delightful. I also cannot forget the char sui bacon butty - I will have to return to eat this again.
We accompanied it with a bottle of wine from Languedoc, which I'm sorry to say I can't remember the name of but was lovely.
Each small plate was around £10. So the total cost for two people was £125 and we both felt absolutely stuffed afterwards, the only thing missing was a hammock for a snooze.
If I was to go again I would probably drop one of the main courses and opt instead for a pudding, which looked from the menu like something special. Who doesn't like a chocolate fondant?
10/10 - Would recommend.

Staff were brilliant from booking to welcome to end of meal.
Food was really good we went for the tasting menu.
Wine offering was very poor considering the food on offer.
To be fair the staff said this is under review and a new wine list is coming soon.
Overall will definitely be back again.

Just been in for the small plates experience, the food was fantastic. I was a little bit confused at first about ordering but the staff were truly fantastic. I cannot recommend this wonderful restaurant enough, GO , you won’t be disappointed. Congratulations team Hyssop.

Amazing food, excellent drinks and super lovely staff! We’ve been to Hyssop a few times now and each time it has been great. The staff really go the extra mile to make it a lovely evening. We tried the set menu deal for £25 on Weds/Thurs which was really good value. Would highly recommend!

This is our go to place for a great dining experience. From the moment you walk through the door nothing is too much trouble. Absolutely love the small plates menu which has a fantastic mix of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes. The cocktails are to die for and the wine list is comprehensive. I can't wait to go back.

Was recommended to attend by a chef who had dined there before hand. Charming confident staff, great atmosphere and a fine selection of small plates foods with locally sourced Derbyshire fine meats, fish & vegetables. A real winner and worth the drive out to try it certainly. Will book again soon. Hope they rotate the menu after a few months to keep it interesting.

We'd been to Hyssop at the Bulls Head and we had some Hyssop at home meals in lockdown but this was our first time visiting the restaurant on the High Street (with one thing and another we just hadn't managed to make it in). We definitely won't be waiting as long before we're back again.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We ordered far too many of the small plates because everything on the menu sounded so good. Even though we were full before the last couple of plates came out we still tucked in because you couldn't just try a bit of any of the dishes without wanting more.
Every dish was amazing. OMG, the flavours, the presentation, the level of detail. How they can serve so many small plates with that level of quality is a mystery.
If you like really good food then go. We will definitely be back very soon.

We came for a meal a couple of days ago on Wednesday Steak night - Lovely restaurant, great for a cosy couples meal out
The starters were great and just the right size, really good range of cocktails to choose from and very nice! We went for the tomahawk steak cooked rare and it was amazing! The fat was like butter and the cut was tender and the prefect size for two - Will be going back
