My husband and I stayed just down the road at Fir Tree Barns and popped up to the Kings head for something to eat and to watch the FA cup final on Saturday evening. We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted with a warm and friendly vibe, we were called up closer to the circle of locals watching the game and bought into the Man United camaraderie. We were immediately bought into the conversations as though we had been locals also for years. To top it off the food was more á la carte than pub menu, but with pub menu prices. ��� All in all we had a great night. THANK YOU to the whole pub, Chef, Bar staff, waitress and especially the locals. Best pub I've been too in years!
We were staying in the village and had 2 meals here. Friendly staff and a big thumbs up to the chef who served up the yummiest of food. The first night he came out to see how the food was and the 2nd eve he asked if I was a vegetarian and offered to cook me anything I wanted. Fantastic service!!!
Had Sunday lunch here. The staff, food and drinks were perfect! We had a very enjoyable afternoon/ evening here. There was an open mike night on, which really filled the place. We stayed for a couple of sets and then left. Really good place to have a meal and a few drinks.
We had an evening meal at the Kings Head Pollington on the 23/9/2023, the pub was close to the equally fab Fir Tree Barn Guesthouse. The meal was delicious. We had the pie of the day, the meat was so tender, the mushy peas were homemade to, it really was so tasty, could not fault it. I was briefly passing through Pollington recently and saw this pub I thought I would stop in for a refreshment.
Inside is small but clean and with a good atmosphere, a good selection of beer and bar snacks are available they also serve food, but I didn't try on this occasion, (maybe next time)
I stepped outside and around the back there was a nice beer garden with some wooden benches that you can sit and spend some time.
Just a quick stop for me though on this occasion however I will be back to visit this nice little village pub.
On the penultimate evening of our trip in England we were at your restaurant today and the food was really good. The service was super friendly and the chef even came out and asked if everything was ok. A really great team and a really cute place. And everything is very clean keep it up and all the best and love for you from the German boys
Had a lovely dinner during our stay in Pollington! Simple menu, but with enough variety. Reservation made upfront worked out perfectly as we were delayed during our travel, no issue. Friendly service.
Had Sunday roast here on Sunday to sample the offerings from the new chef. We were not disappointed! I had the lamb and my wife had lamb and pork. My lamb was cooked perfectly. It was medium and pink, melting in the mouth. The veggies were good with roast parsnip, leak and bacon in a cream sauce and carrot & swede. Normally pub Sunday dinners have tasteless frozen pre-prepared potatoes but these were fresh potatoes roasted.
The presentation was brilliant but we forgot to take photos because the plate was too inviting for us to mess about with phones and a picture of my empty plate wouldn’t be the same.
As always the staff were friendly and great at what they do. The new chef takes a great local pub up a notch.
Moored up on the canal to find this gem a stones throw away from our boat. Great food great prices and very welcoming, popped in for a quick meal and stayed for hours. Fabulous! Didn't stay in tephe rooms so can't comment but have no doubt they would be as nice.
Went for Sunday lunch. Whilst there was a limited menu it was still very good value and the food was well prepared and presented. There are options of large, medium and small for different family members. Staff were friendly and very attentive. Will go again when I’m in the neighbourhood.
Went for Sunday lunch today, nice relaxed atmosphere ,friendly and helpful staff ,had the beef ,was delicious and 1 of the biggest yorkshire pudding s I've seen.Nice hot veg and gravy will definitely be returning
We went Friday night was very busy but they managed to squeeze us in fantastic food and drink. The staff was very helpful and accommodating thank-you all for a fantastic meal .xx
