Lovely weather today so took a stroll along the Marine Parade at Gorleston. A short stroll along the promenade and you will find Jay Jays where you can enjoy a good range of cooked food and cakes. Worth a visit 😎
We called here today for a coffee and a snack whilst walking on the beach. The cafe was really busy but we got a seat outside with our little dog. A dog water bowl was provided. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed inside. There is a unisex toilet inside available to customers. We ordered a coffee and scone and a bottle of sparkling water it was just under £10.00. The fruit scone was lovely. Service was quick and efficient.
Lovely cafe right by the beach. We stopped for a coffee, cake and ice cream for the dogs.
They do have a larger menu with a lot more food that looked really good. The cake was lovely, the coffees were great although my mum had an iced coffee and said it was way too sweet. I think they add Syrup to it so if you don't like sweet coffee I'd ask for it without. It is abit pricey, but it is a large slice of cake. We didn't finish ours so maybe share one slice between 2
Came here last Friday on the recommendation of a friend along with our younger daughter and her partner (both of whom are vegan). Very busy, perhaps because it is their 'Fish Friday' whereby they offer fish and chips and a pot of tea for 2 for £20. It being a beautifully warm spring day we sat at one of the tables outside overlooking the beach. They have an extensive specials board but my husband and I opted for the chilli and cheese on jacket. Portions were very generous, chilli very tasty and it came with a very large side salad. Vegan options were limited however staff were very accommodating and did a large 'breakfast' panini for our sin-in-law accompanied by a portion of hash browns whilst my daughter opted for a toasted vegan sausage sandwich. There was also an amazing selection of cakes (which did include plenty of vegan options) for those just wishing to have coffee and a cake, unfortunately we did not have the room to sample. Staff were very friendly. We will certainly visit again and would not hesitate to recommend.
Visited last Monday, and was delighted to find that the cafe is incredibly dog friendly. The cafe has been through a lot of changes since my childhood, and now has a different feel to it.
There's a friendly atmosphere throughout the cafe, which spreads to the customers. It's lucky I ordered a cold sandwich, because by the time I got round to eating it, several conversations had been had with other dog walkers.
Of course, one of the big things to look for in a dog friendly cafe is how the staff interact with dogs, and any provisions for dogs. You can order a dog sausage for your pooch, ready sliced so you're not having to chop up pieces to keep your dog happy whilst you eat, whilst a tub of water is left outside. Very important in the July heat. Whilst there was a takeaway hutch, ordering was done inside, and the staff seemed understanding of my dog's insistence on trying to jump up and see what was happening.
Perhaps the only downfall for Jay Jay's is the price, with a prawn marie rose sandwich setting an £8.50 hole in your pocket. However, given that Jay Jays has stepped away from the traditional seaside favourite of battered fish and chips (which can be found in its droves at the northern end of Gorleston beach), it's clear that Jay Jay's isn't intended for a cheap and cheerful bite to eat, but certainly for something a little different with a fantastic view.
Lucky enough to visit the fantastic Jay Jays today. Ordered fish finger sandwich and it was more freshly cooked fish fillets than I’ve often been served for a fish supper! Amazing. Also recommend the other meals, breakfast bap, Brie & walnut panini and ‘dirty wedges’ (home made chilli topped wedges). We were rather full and very happy by the end of this feast. Lovely cheerful staff too who were really keen to make sure we enjoyed our visit.
It was lovely in this little cafe by the sea. Delicious cake, nice tea and coffee and friendly staff.
Was lovely to get out of the wind and warm up a bit and watch the sea out of the window x x
Delicious scone (good amount of butter given) and mocha. What a range of cakes! Including gluten free. If I'm this way again, I will return 😋
Lovely place to stop for a coffee on a blustery day on a beautiful beach.
Great place to grab some lunch or a coffee and right on the beach-front as well. Have had lunch here a few times recently, and have not been disappointed! Had toasted tuna and red onion panini, and also recently the brunch omelette (sausage and bacon), with chips and salad which was great. Generous portions at good prices....have been fuftb both times! Well worth a visit.....just don't wave your arms around with food in your hands if you sit outside or the seagulls will pounce! 😆
