Beautiful pub, friendly welcoming service, lovely, good quality food. Shame I had to drive I'd have happily sat in the garden and had a few drinks all afternoon.
Dropped in for a quick spot of early lunch but tempted to stay all afternoon. In the lovely surroundings of Grantchester, it's a wonderful old pub with great beer and very friendly and helpful service.
And the food! It's all so incredibly tempting but we can definitely vouch for the pulled mutton, black pudding, shallots, & mint dressing sandwich on ciabatta (with fabulous chips) and the salmon and spring onion fishcake with jersey royals & radish and wild garlic salad.
A great find. We're definitely coming back!

Great place to eat and drink. We tried the camembert whit onion and ale jam and it was delicious!!
The coliflower croquets were amazing! We loved This place
Wow. What an incredible meal from start to finish!
Very difficult to park, it's a shame because I imagine it's one of the larger reasons people may struggle to travel here to try. Parking sharing with the nearby green king would do wonders!
The waitresses were incredibly kind and jolly throughout service - very helpful when asked questions.
The starter, main and dessert's value for money was off the charts.
For £30, a very filling main and a Michelin star taste is incomparable. I've paid 20 quid for a dry and tasteless burger at Greene King pubs.
I can't stress enough: you MUST try this place at least once. Set aside about 70 quid per person for 3 courses and a drink and you won't regret it!
Excellent food, micheline star standard. Service is top notch. Impressively, Barry cooked himself and he has done amazingly. It is shame that the atmosphere isn’t vibrant, no cocktails and no car park like the next door pub.
The Green Man is a Grantchester institution and it was a sad day when the place closed several years ago. It is great to see the place given a new lease of life, although it's a bit less spit n sawdust than it was and more gastro than pub. Notwithstanding this, it's still nice to see an old run down pub brought back to life and ...it gives a local competition a run for their money as well. Service needs a bit of work with several quite young and inexperienced staff all looking a little blankly at one another whenever an order was placed. But expect this will improve over time!
We stopped in here a couple of months ago on our e-bikes as we were cycling round Cambridge . I noticed they filmed here on the GodManchester TV series. Lovely pub
The Green Man in Grantchester is a really lovely old pub, but over the last few years it fell into disuse and almost ruin. Happily it has now been acquired and refurbished, and is offering mid to high end food. I went there last evening in a group of six, and to a man/woman we all really enjoyed our food. The wine and beer was great too. The ambience is excellent, and would certainly do for a special occasion - birthday, anniversary etc. It's a big cut above 'pub grub', but at £55 per head, all-in, which it was for us last night, I can report that it's very good value indeed.
Exquisitely good food, and a lovely setting.
Highly recommended.
The Green Man of old has closed and reopened in this refurbished setting in the picturesque Village of Grantchester. Part of the car park has been covered over and now reflects a decked patio, leading onto the beer garden that gives out to the river. The selection of beers and gins is adequate. The food was good, although only a limited selection was available to people who did not book in the restaurant, and it would be nice to see this extended to the patio users. You can make with it as you will - come for food or just a drink and you will be well served. Definitely 1 to keep on the list for visitors.
Really well executed and presented food, great flavours, with friendly and attentive service.
Good food BUT very expensive and default 12.5% service charge, when the service isn't great, is unacceptable and meant the bill for 4 people was over £300. If it had been stunning, no problem, but it wasn't. No wonder it was half empty on a Friday night. I wanted to pay cash but was told only cards. Again, unacceptable. We won't be going back when there are so many other better value options in and nearby Granchester.
We have been waiting A LONG TIME for someone to have the vision to fix up and reopen this pub! They have struggled to get started, but it’s well worth the wait! The new head chef Barry Vera serves up an amazing menu. This is NOT pub food, it is FINE DINING and is reflected in the pricing. Our fear is that people will go in expecting affordable pub grub and it will not last. Our hope is that it will make a name for itself and Vera will continue to wow us with impressive gastronomic delights!
