Visited this restaurant and was truly impressed by the culinary delights and impeccable service. The dishes were authentic, flavorful, and a feast for the senses. The staff was attentive and ensured a memorable dining experience. However, the ambiance was a tad perplexing. The juxtaposition of loud sports broadcasts with the traditional setting, coupled with the overly bright lighting, detracted from the otherwise serene and cultural atmosphere. While the food and service are top-notch, I'd suggest a more cohesive theme for the ambiance to complete the experience.
Some great memories of this place from the late 80's early 90's when I was at the Sea College and this was the local ran by a man called Sid and his wife. Locals were really nice and the Landlord and wife were great.
In 2012 I revisited this place as I was buying a car from just outside Gravesend and was staying the night locally. I had to visit the Canal Tavern and was pleased to receive a warm welcome with the current staff who I shared some stories with. Pleased to say some of the locals I knew (Bugsy etc) still frequent the place occasionally.
Drinks are served with a smile and the food was tasty and well priced.
A group of us visited the Punjabi grill for dinner, the venue on arrival is in a nice location looking out onto the prom. On entering the venue the bar is very clean and up scale. We were greeted with a very warm welcome and served drinks properly. The venue it itself feels authentic and fun, my only negative on the decor is that there are far too many televisions in a relatively small bar area.
Our order was taken in good time and came out promptly. It tasted wonderful and all the food was as ordered. The waiting staff were attentive in ensuring we had enough drinks and sauces on the table. I was very impressed with the venue going out of their way to preheat some gluten free naan bread for me and ensuring it was not cross contaminated.
Overall, The service here is wonderful. The food is authentic, generous and great value for money. We had a delightful evening and will be returning soon!
