One of my favourite pubs. It is set in the beautiful Great Langdale. A wide selection of real ales - well kept. Enjoyed the steak and ale pie and chips - large portion. Tasted really nice. Can't wait until my next visit.
Fabulous location. Well kept, lovely real ales in the climbers bar. The rooms were clean and warm. Breakfast was excellent. I didn’t have the evening meal as I arrived late but they did ring to ask if I wanted anything let for me. Used as a base for walking and I couldn’t fault the hotel the staff.
Lots of paid parking available here.
We stopped here for a pint a bowl of chips and both were excellent after a long walk. The chips were proper chips! Nice sitting area outside as well.
Bar review...Loved the characters behind the bar and the chap (attempting) to play his accordion was quite entertaining. Warm welcome, eventhough I had obviously only walked from the campsite and not up any serious fells! Hearty food (try the sausage n mash) and nice fire going too. Will be back in
Very happy from Bar Service, Thanks for nice friendly service and chat. Busy place. I had nice tommato soup with butter and two slices bread. Soup fantastic. Free WiFi, no network signal around. Thank You for nice cake :-)
It’s a great place to go after a day in the hills. The bar is timeless, dogs welcome. They have a good selection of beer.
I didn’t try the food but I saw some coke out and it looked good.
This is my 4th visit.
Was doing a bit of sightseeing and decided to call here as I hadn't been back since I climbed Harrison sickle with my son almost 17 years ago. Beautiful place and it's nice place to sit outside with a drink when the weather is nice .
Unbeatable location in Langdale. Perfect for a few pints and a good plate of food after hiking in the Langdale area.
Only ever been in the climbers bar but it's always warm, good beer and banter.
Wonderful olde worlde pub. Great ales. Food was hearty and brought out fast. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Langdale.
We love the authenticity of the Old Dungeon Ghyl. The staff is kind and invested in guests experiences. Wednesday nights there is local music which is amazing. The location is stunning and convenient for adventures
Had a really enjoyable stay here. It was great to have such a lovely lounge to relax in, beautifully old and interesting. Food was good quality and delicious. Staff were pleasant and helpful and most of all the location was simply stunning. Would love to come back and would highly recommend to all.
Quick service. Food was warm and tasty, good size portions too. Great little stop off after a long walk.
This is a mecca for walkers and the food definitely gives you something to look forward to at the end of a long hike! I can highly recommend the Steak & Kidney Pie, Sticky toffee pudding and walk chocolate brownies. Prices are good too. It's a great atmosphere when you go at around 6pm when everyone
A cosy style hotel where the staff are friendly. Ate lunch on the sunny terrace with an outstanding view.

This glorious place was an absolute wet dream of an ending to a 13 hr walk/hike. The coca cola was/is the best I have tasted... ever. The bar staff were amazingly friendly and understanding of my tired slurred words. The shaved head fella and Megan were awesome. P.s get the steak and ale pie with
