Good to see the pub doing so well & the locals back in make a great atmosphere. New landlord and lady are super friendly and welcoming. Plus they now serve a proper steak pie and it's the best ever!
Really friendly and accommodating after we'd been for a walk in the rain and were wet through to the bone. Lovely food. I'd recommend the steak pie and chips. My friend had the beef Sunday lunch which was a bit minimal especially for the price.
Great pub in a great location. Friendly bar staff/landlord/locals. Good ale choice and food (proper pie). Great to catch up with Neil and Fiona for a beer.
We are regular visitors to Gunnerside and have just spent 2 weeks there. We were delighted to see what a success the new owners are making of The King's Head. Great food and beer, and a friendly welcome from them and the locals are just what you want after a day's walking ( mostly in the rain this year).

Very busy popular pub in a great location. Good choice of cask beer. Excellent food (including vegan and vegetarian dishes) and pleasant staff. Although right up to the road it's got outdoor seating.
A very lovely local pub in the village of Gunnerside which is extremely popular with locals & visitors. The local brew was also very nice and the food was excellent, this is a gem of a pup
Delicious lamb shank and steak pie for us after a day walking in the hills. Fantastic staff and a cosy, friendly atmosphere. Will definitely return :)
