Just recently had our Wedding at 1885 The Restaurant, the service was beyond perfect, the food was incredible, presentation was brilliant too. And the rooms were perfect! Cannot rate this place enough! The suckling pig was to die for!
Excellent food and excellent, friendly service. As a vegan, I checked before going that they could cater for me, and they were extremely accommodating. Definitely recommend.
I have been here a handful of times now and will always come back.
Once for a work Christmas party where all 30 of us were served brilliantly in the private room upstairs and not a complaint among us.
Another time for a 4-person a la carte meal in the restaurant, which again was faultless.
Tonight I had booked for the Mooo-sday Tuesday steak night. Boyfriend said and I quote "better than Michael Jordan's Steakhouse in NYC"! Quite the review and great service too, all the just Β£25 - best value in Halifax.
I've dined there many times over the years and have always been very satisfied with the food and excellent service, I recommend the restaurant to anybody who is looking for a fine dining restaurant experience.
We had 3 nights stay and a family gathering for 24 of us. The level of attention to detail is of high standards. Thank you to all the staff and compliments to the chef. We all had an amazing time and ate very well throughout our stay.

Been a few times now and there's only one problem we can't get past the fish plank to try all the other delicious meals .....you have to try the fish plank a fish lovers dream ...great real ale too!
If possible, the chefs here just get better and better! οΏ½ gorgeous Sunday lunch and the white chocolate mouse is absolutely delicious!! Our favourite place of all time x

Fantastic stay. Room was lovely. Dinner and breakfast were both superb home cooked meals, really high quality. Best was the staff, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Little gem of a place.
We have just had a lovely stay at 1885 The Venue. We were going a wedding nearby so booked this place.
Kate welcomed us and was very efficient and friendly. The room was lovely and quiet and breakfast amazing. We had an evening meal in the pub and the service and food were great.
I would definitely recommend as a place to stay or eat.
First time visiting on Christmas Eve and had a lovely time! Despite the pub being so full, the staff were so lovely, polite and attentive. There was a great selection of food (not just a set festive menu like most places do on Christmas Eve). The food is well priced, good portion sizes and came out piping hot! My entire party had a great time, we will definitely be returning π
Fabulous from start to finish! Great interior, very much a warm welcome from the staff and food to die for. So happy this place is going from strength to strength. Apart of my family have stayed in the rooms offered and they were super happy also. 5 stars all around!
Had lunch today food was absolutely delicious we have been to many pub restaurants in the area but the food here was the best and the lovely lady that served us was amazing really bubbly and happy. Elle I think she was called. Having staff like her really makes a difference to a company.
I cannot speak highly enough of every member of staff that we met. They were all so welcoming and friendly. The food was an extremely good standard. I would definitely recommend to anyone.
The best rooms in the area at the best price, the pub has some fantastic food that is prepared with skill and care, black pudding salad is a triumph, staff are all excellent and the owners are very welcoming. Cant wait to go back.

Called in on a Tuesday lunchtime with our two dogs. Lovely place nicely decorated and excellent food. The staff member who served us was fabulous so so friendly. Would certainly visit again when back in the area. Highly recommended.
Our family travelled from across the UK for my mother-in-laws surprise 80th birthday celebration. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcomed and we were taken care of very well.
The manager/owner took great care of all our requirements with great attention to detail. The food was fantastic, the portions were spot on, and the atmosphere was superb.
This was the first time that any of us had visited 1885, and we have plans to visit again in September and November. I'm sure that the staff will give us more pleasurable memories and deliver a great experience.
