This pub is currently a wonderful post-brexit business opportunity. I heard that the previous owner allowed dogs, ferrets, cats and parrots on the premises. I suspect that they had done a lot of research into what makes the perfect animal friendly pub. If you visit with a parrot and a cat though you will have to use two bars; since generally cats and parrots don't get on.
I generally approve of pubs with multiple bars depending upon the shape of one's demon and I am quietly hopeful for the future of anyone who happens to be visiting this pub from any of the many alternative universes that overlay this one...

This is a proper pub, no annoying machines in every corner, just good beer and friendly staff who know their beer. If I didn't have a dinner reservation I would have cheerfully stayed longer.

I've been using The Gundog for a couple of years. The real ale is always excellent quality and great value with 4 as a minimum to choose from. Gary and his staf always give great service and a great deal of time and effort has been taken to restoring the pubs interior. If you like a real pint in a real pub then you can't go wrong.
