The coffee is the best in town! Actual proper espresso style coffee! I was very happy to find this cafe. The staff are very knowledgeable and don't rush you. A modern, industrial, funky atmosphere too.

Very nice place to go if you fancy a good quality coffee and a nice brunch. It has also a very nice atmosphere and well decorated. Staff is very nice and aproachable.

Have been here a couple of times now and it’s always been a great experience. Delicious coffee every time, the bloke I’ve always been served by seems really nice, genuine and not in a rush, it’s very comforting. Had a vegan breakfast and it was absolutely delish and a good decent serve (unlike lots of cafes where it feels like you just subtract the non-vegan stuff for the same price). Cute atmosphere with lots of plants (also mostly for sale) and various other tea/coffee stuffs for sale, too. Would highly recommend.

Nothing beats Temperance - easily my favourite coffee shop in Halifax. Flat white made perfect every time. Delicious and fresh baked goods. Ample seating. Highly recommend!

What a great discovery in the centre of Halifax! Within easy walking distance from Piece Hall and adjacent to the Market Hall you'll find a calm and friendly environment at Temperance. Great coffee and cake consumed, plus two bags of North Star coffee beans to take home 😀 I would definitely recommend this place for meeting friends and family or for a quiet coffee alone. We were made to feel very welcome ❤️

amazing food & coffee, ambience was great, lots of tables to sit at and service was super fast. nice selection of vegetarian and vegan food and nice big portions, we will definitely come again :)

Wow, what a difference. Lovely fresh feel, great food, tea & coffee. Friendly (It's Yorkshire!) and welcoming. I'm not one for "Earthy" type establishments, but the owner has got the balance spot on. Food we had was brilliant. Thank you for investing in Halifax 👍
