Reviews of Sultan Mahal

I had an excellent meal here tonight. The curry was fresh and well spiced and the chapati was great. I really couldn't believe that the restaurant wasn't busy as I rated the food very highly. If this was my local restaurant I would be more than happy, and I recommend the people of Halifax to support it.

I don't live locally so don't get to go to the Sultan Mahal very often. I do have friends that are local though, so have been meeting them here sporadically over the last 10 or so years. For me (and my friends), the Sultan Mahal has never disappointed. Portion size is good, and the pricing is very fair. The food is consistently of a high standard, and honestly some of the tastiest curry I've ever had. I particularly recommend the Meat Thali. I also like that you can customise any curry, choosing to have it mild, medium or hot. They'll even accommodate a request for medium-hot if you're looking for something in-between. One of my friends likes extra coriander, and another likes his garlic nan extra crispy. The staff have always been happy to help with these adjustments. Overall, one of my favourite places to eat. Will definitely be returning!

Good points, food is good and you get a generous portion. Chapattis were fresh and delicious. Bit annoyed to discover I was charged £8.90 for a vegetarian meal that said £5.90 on the menu and cost more than king prawns or chicken!! Was this a genuine mistake? Would have given them the extra money as tip but didn't because of this. The waiter also regaled us of his misdemeanor tales for far too long which was a bit boring. Better to stick to just taking the order in future, please!!!

Difficult to find, but very helpful staff directed and welcomed us at the door. The service was brilliant and helpful, the curries were beautiful: tasty, and the spices were to perfection. Good options for veggie and vegans too. Very reasonable prices. I would definitely recommend this place to all and i will be returning.
