Came upon this friendly little coffee house and eatery while on a day trip. It's in a lovely old timbered building right in the centre of Halifax. The downstairs café is small but there is seating (and toilets) upstairs as well as a few outside tables. Very clean and the tables were well sanitised. They do sandwiches, paninis and other light meals and you can also get takeaway. There's a wide choice of tempting cakes and pastries. Ordered and paid for my lunch at the counter and it was brought quickly to my table by a very pleasant waitress. Had a jacket potato with tuna, it was well cooked and served with dressed salad and coleslaw. The tea was nice and hot (served in a mug, they don't do pots of tea). Some very friendly locals in the café too, had a nice chat with one of them. Overall a satisfying lunch and at £6.50 very reasonably priced.

Great cafe , good food , great staff
While I was there an elderly lady needed to go upstairs but being unsteady needed help
A young waitress not only helped but seemed pleased to help
That is great customer service & other establishments should take note
Well done

Great place, always excellent and friendly customer service, the coffee is top notch, better actually than the named coffee chains nearby (good taste, extra hot and good value for money). Can't recommend enough.

Love coming here with my dad. He loves a latte and a toasted current tea cake. He says it's the best latte in Halifax. Staff are so polite and helpful, and the food is spot on.

Old building I think now forming part of Woolshops Shopping area. Seating inside or outside at tables on the paved walkway area. Coffee was good.

Came here for a break from shopping. Coffee and the chocolate shake were nice, the brownie was too. The staff are polite and brought our drinks outside. The sun was out, so we sat outside. Prices are reasonable for a town centre, parking is an issue due to the location. All in all a nice little coffee shop :)

A nice café with friendly staff. We had very generous and reasonably priced sandwiches with really nice dressings and sides. A good hot chocolate too. The table numbers on painted wooden spoons are a nice touch.

Coffee @ No 1 is our favourite coffee shop. Way quieter and tastier coffees than Costa. The staff are cheery and they sell some tasty cakes. Good price too! If your in Halifax, you'd be missing out if you didn't stop here.

This is a small place with in and out side seating and in summer when the sun is out you can sit out side around 10 in the morning and still be there in the evening and you will get sun on your face all day and pleasant surroundings people going up and down the cobblestone walkways, also the young lady’s who are the waitresses are very pleasant and sweet the make you welcome and mostly personally speaking remember what your orders are which helps, so me it’s always a pleasure to come down have a walk In town and come in her to sit in or out depending on weather to relax before making my way back home.
