Dinner at The Silver Cup for Wednesdays steak night. Really enjoyed but... come with a big appetite and baggy trousers! It's a kilo of fine steak for 2! The doggy will feed us 2 more meals. Lovely staff, very nice atmosphere. Have to book. Easy to find. Price for 2 with tomahawk steak, sides, shared dessert and some wine was £162 Inc service. well recommended.

Myself and my husband booked a few weeks past for steak night, a friend recommended. I have to say....definitely the best, most tasty steak ive ever ate. Service first class. Wine first class. The owner very attentive and all staff service fantastic. We will be back.

A lovely chilled experience. I went for the bar menu and wasn’t disappointed. The food these guys produce is top notch you will not be disappointed. Great choice of wines and beer on offer too. Highly recommend paying them a visit.

Had a really lovely meal here last night with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. The 5 course tasting menu was delicious - each course was presented beautifully and tasted great. Lots of variety and good wines. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and did not rush us through in line with a set timeframe as we were there for nearly 4 hours! Will definitely come again and have heard that the Sunday lunches are great too. Thank you.

I visited the silver spoon for Sunday roast. The best roast in many many years. We felt truly welcome.
The menu was a real treat - you must have the scotch egg and 3 courses!

Myself and my husband had the most amazing meal last night. The food was delicious, service was spot on and altogether a night with a wonderful atmosphere and I would highly recommend that you have dinner at this great place.

An absolute must if you're looking for Sunday Lunch. Its popular with the Harpenden locals (which is always a good sign), the staff are friendly and the service is efficient. The menu was excellent, lots of choices. I had the prawn starter, which was a pretty, dainty and delicious dish (I shall definitely back to have this one again), then I had the traditional sirloin beef Sunday Lunch, which was also delicious! Served with Yorkshire pudding, cabbage, roast potatoes, carrot and beautiful beef gravy, it was superb! My partner had the lamb main and it was also beautifully cooked and delicious. We shared the crumble for desert, along with an Italian desert wine. There is street parking nearby and a lovely outdoor seating area for when the weather gets warmer

Not just another jumped up pub for Harpenden's bon chic bon genre (though there were plenty in evidence), the Silver Cup's latest incarnation delivers on the promise of good grub, attractively presented and not too outrageously priced (if you are inured to London prices, lunch for two was £150 with a modest bottle of red). Very interesting but brief wine list. The service was attentive but not ever present. On a good day you can find parking a short walk away but parking in Harpenden Harpenden can be a trial. A welcome addition to Harpenden's eateries and thank heavens not another coffee shop. It's not big so it can get booked up. Reserve.

Had a great stay at the Silver Cup. The atmosphere and staff were great. Unfortunately couldn't stay for the Sunday roast which we had heard was fantastic. The room was clean and tidy albeit a tad old fashioned. Location great and easy to get too.

I have had the pleasure of eating here several times and have never been disappointed. The food is outstanding (and often surprising), the service and ambience excellent. The Sunday roasts are the best we’ve had (outside of home!) and the set menus are creative and delicious. Yet to try the steak night - but will be booking that soon. Highly recommend.

This is a review of the accommodation only. We stayed at the Silver Cup last night after a pre-Christmas visit to family. The accommodation was warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean and we were made very welcome. The decor and furnishings are not luxurious but the price is reasonable for what is provided. The bed and bedding made for a very good night's sleep. I suspect that the relatively new owners are (understandably) focusing on developing the food and drink offerings before upgrading the sleeping accommodation but we would not hesitate to stay there again.
We had a couple of drinks in the bar during our stay and enjoyed them.
We didn't try either the restaurant menu or the bar menu but look forward to doing so when the grandchildren are a little older and able to appreciate the food.
