We went here twice on our stay in Harrogate, both on a Sunday. First time it was quiet around midday but was good to have a chat with the friendly staff and have a look around the bar, which is small but a lot of character. We went back again for the live music which started at 4pm, if we hadn’t had dinner plans we would have stayed until 8pm when it finished. Defo worth a visit!

Great short visit last week - much enjoyed half of real ale beer. Service was excellent - very friendly with a lovely laid back atmosphere in this very old pub filled with character - imagine a buzz later as we visited early on a Thursday teatime. Would deffo recommend a visit.

Probably my favourite pub in Harrogate. The main saloon has lots of lovely Victorian fixtures and fittings, but I actually prefer the snug next door for a cosy pint by the wood burning stove. Perfect 👌

Really enjoyed this pub. They stock nice cask ales. I had the Taylor’s Landlord Dark. The staff were lovely. Special mention to Suzie who was talking to my Mam about the time she worked with the railway. Very comfortable, old-world pub with dogs lying around. I’d happily go back, next time I’m in Harrogate.

Amazing place with a great atmosphere and friendly and welcoming staff. It's as a pub should be. They also have old gas lighting on the bar and ceiling.
If you're in Harrogate you really should visit.

Apparently the most historic & oldest pub in Harrogate, this has a history going back many years as Harrogate became a spa resort. The main lounge bar is well preserved with mirrors & other interesting features & fittings from the Victorian era, including traditional gas lighting & cigar lighters on the bar. The main bar is very atmospheric with a good range of real ales, together with more popular beverages. Didn't get to sample the food but would like to go back to do so. Well worth a visit.

Brilliant pub. Supposedly oldest in town going back to 1766. I believe it, old and quirky. Still got gas lamps on the bar. Several real ales and a few foreign beers. We really enjoyed our visit, hope to try the food next time. The barmaid was really friendly. Cracking old pub you should try it.
