Beautiful quirky pub, friendly staff, good choice of beers all well kept
Excellent service. A band was on in the main bar. Good band, obviously crowded in main bar, so I went into the side lounge. Staff were excellent and came to see me even though I was the only one there. I couldn't see what beers they had on, so the staff member came back with a selection of tasters, fantastic!
Apparently the most historic & oldest pub in Harrogate, this has a history going back many years as Harrogate became a spa resort. The main lounge bar is well preserved with mirrors & other interesting features & fittings from the Victorian era, including traditional gas lighting & cigar lighters on the bar. The main bar is very atmospheric with a good range of real ales, together with more popular beverages. Didn't get to sample the food but would like to go back to do so. Well worth a visit.
I was visiting Harrogate with a close friend over the weekend, such a beautiful place, full of architectures and buildings.

Nice little old style bar. Was quite full when we were there, but they still found us somewhere to sit. Seems a friendly place, with regulars there, and a band setting up on the Sunday we were there (unfortunately didn't start before we left). A cosy, warm place for a drink stop off. Nice large toilet area too, which was unusual for a small bar.
Only called in for a couple of drinks. The place is full of character and characters. Would definitely visit again when in Harrogate.

Brilliant pub. Supposedly oldest in town going back to 1766. I believe it, old and quirky. Still got gas lamps on the bar. Several real ales and a few foreign beers. We really enjoyed our visit, hope to try the food next time. The barmaid was really friendly. Cracking old pub you should try it.
Lovely old traditional pub with some unique fixtures and fittings, not least the gas lighters on the bar top. A good selection of beers of which I chose a very nice pint of Robinsons Dizzy Blonde. Friendly service and there's even free WiFi should you need it.
Last twice at Harrogate, came across the pub by accident, absolutely fabulous atmosphere, service with a smile, I'm not into karaoke, but hey plenty of laughs and some fabulous singers 😀 love the place 💓
