Smiths Arms

Lovely warm welcome and beautiful interior. The food was very nice overall but came too cold. We heard others send their food back for being cold too, so obviously not just us. I think it would be nicer if the veg was cooked fresh for the roast dinners as it had the look of food which had been hanging around despite dining at midday on a Sunday. Same with the kids Mac and cheese - looked like yesterdays. Cucumber and carrots for kids meals not freshly cut. Good value and lovely staff mean we would give it another go.

Popped in for a quick drink as I was thinking of buying a holiday home nearby... Warm welcome, Aspall's cider, lovely conversation with bar man ( sorry name escapes me just now), beautiful place & ambience. Stayed longer than intended simply because of the fabulous bar man, his interest in people, great conversation etc didn't have time to try food, definitely on my list tho...but vegan ..so hopefully there'll be a good choice. Beautiful place.

We've always enjoyed trips here - went today and decided to leave a review as it was particularly lovely. We sat at a cosy table in the bar area (restaurant is nice too but we really enjoy the atmosphere in the bar) food and drink was spot on - the best sticky toffee pudding I think I've ever had! Plus, the staff were excellent - welcoming and super efficient. Thank you for having us - we will be back soon - and if you've never visited this lovely pub - do it.

Had a really nice Sunday lunch today with the gang at the Smiths Arms whilst out on the motorcycles. They were very welcoming and on the ball.. The beef was very rare and went down a treat. The meal was hot and well presented. The one radish muncher in the group had some kind of mushroom Wellington and said it was delightful..All in all a very nice experience and I would say bikers are very welcome..

My 1st visit to the Smiths Arm, it was a favourite of my father inlaws, we had a lovely walk around swinsty reservoir and stopped here on our way home, the pub is charming with plenty of carparking, we hadn't booked but the friendly staff quickly found us a table in the bar area as we had a dog. The pub is cosy and warm with an open fire, good selection of drinks, food was ordered from the lunchtime menu and everything was nice. I'll come again and would recommend the Smiths Arms if you're passing.

The pies are delicious - between 4 of us we had the vegan, the chicken and ham, and the steak & ale which had a light puff pastry top. Plenty of filling in all pies. The service was great and we didn't have to wait long for our meal. The prices were good value too. Cosy pub with nice country décor and an open fire. Perfect for a winter lunch!
