Great food , well balanced, quality fresh produce. All 3 course high standard of cooking not over pretentious plating or service as can be some restaurants of this type .
Not particularly cheap but easily worth every penny. Service was really good and the food was fabulous. The restaurant is very clean and tastefully decorated in an understated way. The tables are nice and big and the chairs are comfortable with the wood burner being a nice touch. If you are looking for some quality food that comes out surprisingly quickly then this place is good bet.

Visited this little hidden gem today for lunch. Both food and service was great.
We been in Devon for 6 days, and this was the first meal we’ve had that we really loved and enjoyed very much.
For starters we had bread and olives and main we had crab toast. It was sooooo tasty. Honestly so so tasty we wanted to go back for more.
If you are staying in Hartland , it’s a must visit. You won’t be disappointed.
Thank you for the great service and food. See you soon!
A very nice place with good food! 2 young people who (re)started it recently (spring 2023), both chef. We happened to pass by and were very happy we booked a table for diner a day later. Small place, classy in a lovely pure way and as said: the food is great.
Lovely all round food and service and atmosphere. Prices fair for evening meal in area. Good choices well cooked. Nice staff.
This is a profoundly hidden gem of a restaurant experience. In an area of Devon that is over-dependent on pub culture (no complaints with it but sometimes diversion is a good thing), Pattard surprises and satisfies with its menu reach and execution, and farm setting. We were there on a beautiful mid-August evening to sit outside on a well-manicured lawn where we enjoyed our apps and first wine pouring as the sun descended. We moved inside as temps cooled for our mains, shared dessert, and finishing our pinot noir before moving into an after-dinner port. Menu execution and service standards (Toni!) are superb. This meal was a highlight of our week staying in the area and hiking the coastline. Owner’s personal greeting and dedicated care a too often forgotten touch elsewhere. A sublime experience in all regards.
Meal for 3: Apps: duck liver mousse, fried leeks, scallops. Mains: lamb, beef roast (x2)—perfectly prepared med rare with pepper sauce. Dessert: shared chocolate mousse w apple sorbet.
Having seen the reviews and wanting a fine dining experience to treat our foodie 8yr old son, we booked in for dinner during a weeks summer holiday in Bude. What a fantastic experience! Lovely intimate yet informal setting, excellent friendly greeting and service. The food overall was delicious. We all opted for starters; my son and I had monkfish which was tasty with new flavour experiences for us, but I wouldn't have it again. My husband had scallops, which were perfect.
The mains were outstanding 👏 my son had the roast chicken as I knew he'd enjoy all the vegetable accompaniments. It was unreal! The chicken breast was juicy and cooked to perfection, the confit croquette was mouthwatering and the maderia jus had us all mopping up his plate!
The beef dish was equally beautiful with perfectly cooked rump and buttery brisket, what elevated the dish was the peppery sauce and the sticky shallot marmalade
Overall I highly recommend, especially if camping/self catering and wanting a wonderful treat! Living near London, for us, quality vs. price was well worth it. It was a treat and we intended on having pudding. The starters weren't large but the mains were extremely generous and we were stuffed! Next time we will skip starter (or maybe share one) and aim for pudding!
Pattard was all around a really great experience. One of the best restaurants we have ever been to. We felt the restaurant was reasonably priced, and we definitely plan to come back in the future!
Great produce, well cooked - what more could you want? Congratulations to the new chefs. We’ve been coming here on and off for the last few years and the current Pattard seems one of the best there’s been.
