Stopped in yesterday on a whim (and because I was hungry!) as I walked along the seafront. There’s a guy who’s always sitting at a table outside drinking cardamom tea served in a pretty little silver teapot. I’ve seen him there even when it’s freezing. Don’t know why, but that prompted me to go in.
At the suggestion of a fellow diner, I got the Afghani lamb biriyani with a side of pita & yogurt with mint. Oh my, so good!! And enough for dinner at home later. Friendly staff, simple interior, windows that look out to the sea. Lovely.
They close at five so go for lunch. If you hate styrofoam as I do, bring your own container to pack up leftovers.
I may go back today!
Our go-to place in St Leonards on Sea, right on the sea front. Delicious Persian food with a good range of vegan and vegetarian options. Not costly, prices in photo from February 2023. Pictures show the veg. Combination and the veg. biryani (spicy, but you can request it to be mild). Generous portions.
Brilliant place to stop at for coffee or lunch. The staff is nice and efficient. The food isn’t expensive at all, quickly prepared and of excellent quality!
Overall we had a great experience, the ambiance was good, lovely staff and it was a nice mediterranean treat. The only suggestion is to clean the cutlery more carefully. Otherwise it's a great cafe.
Friendly staff, excellent portion sizes. Piping hot food. I would recommend the veggie biryani 10/10 and the veggie samosas were also nice. Very busy during the daytime, but a great place to be located on the seafront.
Delicious food, well priced and generous portions. Good strong coffee and a fabulous seafront location. Good views inside and out plus lovely staff and owners
Kassa is a jewel of a restaurant / café among the various St Leonard's eateries west of Hastings but still insisting on their own district identity. Delicious Persian / Afghan flavours alongside great coffee, pastries, classy omelettes, Mediterranean salads, hummus, meze, as well as eggs on toast, delicious teas, and a nice range of true vegetarian options. The ambiance is lovely. Seating either outside (nice in summer, windy in winter) or inside at vintage tables both small and large, comfortable lounge seats, well- stocked and used book shelves, and the great gleaming sea and south coast sky shining through the window. Prices on the reasonable side by local comparison, and one final surprise - it also houses an opticians, Kassa optics. Service friendly and the place though busy is always clean. Make a point of eating here and hang out for a read and a chat.
Love this place. Persian cuisine so slightly different but wonderfully aromatic flavours. Good coffee and properly Dog friendly
Great ambience with sea view, and good value food and drinks. Staff not very communicative and not 5 star because toilet area needed a good clean.
Brilliant find. Amazing place. My goto establishment now. Try to go at least once a week.
