If you like Middle Eastern food (and why wouldn’t you? It’s the best!) then make sure to check out Khalid’s kitchen in the town centre.
I had the chicken shawarma box (see pic) and it was delicious. Fragrant, perfectly cooked rice, delicately sumac-scented chicken, creamy hummus and fresh salad.
The service was great and they thoughtfully brought my dog a water bowl on a hot day. I’ll definitely be back (at the very least to check out their breakfasts!)

Amazing staff, amazing food. Big portions for such an affordable price. Staff were so polite and chatty. Would definitely return. And highly recommend. Such nice coffee as well.
The food was superb with a great portion size!
The homemade baklava was delicious!
Will be coming back!
A nice cozy place for a relaxing middle eastern lunch in Hastings!
It’s kind of in the heart of the town centre. You can easily park your car in the shopping centre’s car park which is around the corner around 1000 yards away and just a few minutes walk towards this nicely placed middle eastern eatery facing the vibrant street.
Upstairs you get ample stairs in the restaurant to relax and get a taste of some delicious middle eastern Lamb shawarma and traditional tea.
The service was good and quick.
After 5 pm they serve traditional Arab rice dishes, which we dint bump into because we were in for lunch. So would like to try that out sometime.
We had the falafel platter which was delicious alongside the Batata hara, vine leaves, rice, fries, and the veggie samosa (the only thing o wouldn’t recommend as it was really really oily) the lamb samosa went down a treat. We had the Kunafa for dessert - which I might share in future as it was a lot after everything else and super sweet. Everything was a. 10/10 including the drinks - rose and passion fruit mocktails, just wouldn’t recommend the veggi samosa. Lovely interior and very friendly staff.
In a town full of chippy’s and the usual chain place it was nice to come across a small business in a great location. We had the lunch menu of a lamb shwarma box and my son had the children version which was just smaller and came with a drink. Service with a smile, a clean and bright place. Yes the AC wasn’t working on a very hot day but we had a cooling fan made available to us. The price is very reasonable for a decent portion of food. Thank you to Khalid and his team, we will re visit when back in Hastings evening though he tried to convert my son from a LFC fan to a Man U fan lol
In the evening we slept in the hornbeams. The woodland was green and lush, and the rain pittered down on the roof of leaves, above the stage where we set our camp and sang.
The world was liminal, at least for a while. But soon bramble thickets and country roads gave way to the grey drizzle of Hastings.
Hungry and tired, it was there we found Khalid's Kitchen. A Mediterranean oasis where we enjoyed escape once more. The lamb shawarma was juicy and full, and the chips were hot and fresh. Iced coffee and a Rubicon? Yes please!
It was a most wonderfulle journie that did befall the dryadic troubadours of the wood; and it ended somewhere in a dream, beneath a date palm in Hastings Town.
I knight thee, Khalid of Brede.

My first time in there today with my best friend I had the vegan shawarma box, which was divine, my friend had the vegan tawook on skewers, everywhere was spotless, and service with a smile, when I’m next in Hastings I will go there again.
Delightful slice of North Africa in Hastings. Lively food well prepared and presented, served in a well designed and decorated space. Top marks all round!
In amongst the chains of anaemic baked goods and £3.50 meal deals, this is such a refreshing option. Really generous portions and great value, the tasteful Middle Eastern decor suits the equally tasty Middle Eastern offerings. So much the choose from that will entice you to go back keep trying more.
