Visited on Sunday at short notice without booking and staff were lovely and accommodating. The menu looked really impressive but my mind was made up for the roast and it didn't disappoint. The pub was extremely busy but my food arrived in under ten minutes and nothing on the plate was cold ;) The portion was huge and worth every penny of the £15 as the beef was so tender and cooked to perfection. I can't wait to visit again and try something else

Thank you, we had a lovely Sunday afternoon. We were a party of 6 and all the roast dinners were served hot and tasted as good as they looked! The deserts were very yummy too. The produce used is top quality. I would highly recommend this friendly pub.

Really yummy roast dinners served on a Sunday but puddings were a big disappointment. I ordered a brownie based off of an Instagram picture the pub posted which looked beautiful, with ganache like chocolate poured over the top. What arrived was much more 'slice of cake' consistency with chocolate syrup, the kind used for kid's ice cream. My partner's cheesecake had been warmed up as if to be defrosted and was just melting into the plate, but they kindly removed this from the bill. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Maybe avoid the £7 desserts but certainly go for a lovely roast dinner!

Lively and (on a Friday evening) very busy. The food was fine....split chicken for me......when eventually it came after an hour and a half waiting. I suspect there was a problem in the kitchen as they did send out bread to pass the time. Decent beers, friendly if stressed staff. One suggestion: the noise levels in the restaurant area were excessive: a few softer surfaces would help absorb some of it. And maybe limit the tables booked if things are getting stretched.

We found this pub after landing at Stansted and wanting to extend our holiday just a little longer. And we weren't disappointed. What a beautifully done out pub, with a menu that is inventive and flexible - in that they offer vege alternatives to most dishes. The food was delicious to boot! The staff were ace and it's definitely somewhere we'd like to spend more time - if only we lived closer.

Fabulous dog friendly pub (inside & out). Food top notch & friendly service. We have been back a number of times with our 2 spaniels, to eat in the dog friendly section. Would definitely recommend

Second visit this month, this time with the family of ten. Simply wonderful. Made everyone feel welcome, warm on a cold night, beautifully decorated, and the food and staff were amazing. There’s a new manager here, and an extensive menu and selection for all pallets and all dietary requirements. Great food, Great beer, and family friendly. Thank you David, and all your wonderful staff, who made my wife’s birthday a night to cherish. Jim and Karen.

Found this little gem of a place and was immediately felt welcome. Cosy pub with good atmosphere. Stayed for lunch after reading other reviews and although I had not pre booked was fitted in. The food was freshly cooked, and very flavourful, and hot. Certainly not massed produced and served up to order as I have experienced in other establishments. And the portion sizes were more than ample, even with my large appetite, almost leaving me unsure as to whether i could tackle a desert as well, but on the advice of another reviewer I sercumbed to ordering the apple crumble, and I was glad I had. Pleasant staff always willing to help and asking if everything was OK without being over intrusive. I would without doubt visit again even though its in excess of an hour drive from my home. The chef who works here unseen deserves a mention for the attention to detail like the subtle Basil taste from Roast potatoes, and freshly cooked veg. Will most certainly look forward to returning.

Very friendly welcome, nice beer Doombar, large range of wines and food in a very smart pub. The new owners are continuing to improve and decorate.
