We went for a meal on New Years Eve as a large group with 6 kids. Food was absolutely delicious and the staff/ owners were very warm and welcoming. Bought out a huge tub of Lego which kept the kids entertained for ages. We had a reduced menu which is understandable but the food was excellent

The staff was amazing! The rooms were some of the nicest rooms in our entire trip! We were stuck in a situation with no where to stay and the staff at the George stepped up and helped 3 Canadian women with kindness and respect. Food was absolutely first rate. Hatherleigh is a lovely town and the residents are amazing. We hope to return again and stay longer. The rooms were spacious and spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. Everything you could need was supplied!! Thank you.
We stayed here for a friend's wedding down the road. Our room was a wheelchair accessible room (we didn't request this but it wasn't a problem either), nice and big, can be twin or double. We had dinner there, lovely pub grub and huge portions, and breakfast was lovely too, though would have liked to have been offered another tea/coffee but not the end of the world. Would definitely recommend
My girlfriend and I had an awesome stay here. We arrived on bike - The George is pretty much on the half way point on the coast to coast route and were greeted with a friendly welcome, great pints, nourishing food and clean, smart rooms - we even had a bath to soak away the bumps from the ride. Thank you for having us.
Stayed here for two nights and wow.... Was we surprised. If I could give more star's I would, rooms were fantastic, service ace, clean and food excelled. Shower with good pressure (always a good start) plenty of parking and entertainment. Situated in a town called Hatherliegh, this town is a great place to which to explore north and south Devon. Hopefully going back later in year.... If we can get in. 😉
Stopped here for a night on a LEJOG cycling trip. Room was ideal for a quick stay, good value for money. Staff were helpful
We never stayed here, but we ate at the George for three nights. Superb food. Definitely recommended.
A very pleasant place to stay. Lovely rooms, good food and drink topped with good service. Good value. Recommend you try it for yourself if you get the opportunity.
Second time of staying. On the Devon Coast to Coast. Excellent rooms and service. Great food. Very accommodating.
Lovely location, loved that they offered something other than roast on a Sunday.

Lunch excellent and a young lady all on her own running things very well indeed. Very comfortable seating, dated but immaculate in appearance. Very old pub in excellent order and toilet area features modern amenities including renovated overhead "pull the chain" cisterns from days gone by...most unusual! Would happily call in again for lunch.
