Review Grizedale Cafe - Hawkshead

One of my favourite places in the world . I may have seen a few things in my time , spectacular buildings, coral reef and such but the lakes of England have a unique light and feel. I would happily spend my days here.

Great day out in the Ebikes. Nice trails for everyone to enjoy. The hire bikes some of our group had were well maintained and the staff were lovely. Happy to help and nothing was no problem 😁

Tramper was already hired out so decided to take my own mobility scooter around. Wasted a couple of miles of battery power following the wrong trail but went to visitors centre to look at map then headed out on the tramper trail. My scooter managed but used quite a bit of battery life by the time I got around. Could I make a suggestion that where you have the posts with the black plate and white arrows on that you put how far around you actually travelled or have left to travel as we had no idea where we were . Had a look on the site on Google but it seamed to be the wrong way around. We thoroughly enjoyed it so did the dog.

Lovely place to visit for all ages and abilities. Beautiful forest with loads of different levels of walks, cycle paths and Go Ape is above part of your forest walk. The facilities here are really good and clean. After a lovely walk through the forest, watching children and adults having fun high in the tree, enjoying the sunshine we returned to the main area and enjoyed an ice cream milk shake. We sat outside in the sunshine, enjoying the sound of others enjoying their time outdoors and with nature. Highly recommend a visit to Grizedale Forest while visiting the Lake District.

Vast forest area with lots to occupy walkers, mountain bikers and families with the numerous trails

Fantastic mtb riding. Hired ebikes. Bloody brilliant.

Nice visitor centre with clean toilets to hand and a very nice cafe. The cafe had a small selection of cakes as well as plenty of sandwiches, snacks other food on offer. There are great views from the cafe seating area too. There are plenty of trails to follow around the forest with trail maps around the car parks and visitor centre. We visited in late May and had wonderful smells of the wild garlic as we walked through the trails.

Go Ape was frankly amazing. With a solid emphasis on safety, the team made us all feel very confident and raring to go. The tree top challenge was definitely testing with some proper stomach dropping Zip lines. All told an all-weather adventure that was enjoyed by all.

Weather played it's part today, lovely walk, only short walk as young person was with us. Must have tired him out as he fell asleep 10 minutes after getting into the car!!!. Still, a very enjoyable walk even though it was a short one.

Loved the trails, uphill is mostly on nice wide fire roads and the downhill a mixture of rooty and rocky singletrack. The red wasn't massively challenging but great fun. Keep an eye out for signage as some can easily be missed. Beware the cafe, daylight robbery so remember a picnic

We took our grandson (4) to walk in the forest and we did the Zog trail, with lots of virtual reality features along the way. He also went on the Tree Top Challenge (Go Ape), which he found exhilarating. Good facilities and parking.

Grizedale Forest and it's visitors centre are definitely with visit. The centre hasa fantastic children's play area and lovely cafe. There are 3 units with independent, talented artists making and selling a range of prints, paintings, baskets and pottery. The forest itself is beautiful with a myriad of walking trails, mountain bike trails and some amazing sculptures. There are mountain bikes to hire at Grizedale the fantastic Go Ape if you're not scared of heights! A fantastic day out.

Went on a wet drizzly day. Loved it. Did the long walking trail, tough in places but we'll worth it.so was able to see from all aspects, great views to be had.

Went to go ape tree top experience, what a rush . Only downside tore a muscle in my arm , luckily near the finish. The staff were very concerned and did everything to alleviate the situation and make me comfortable. Would recommend.

Did the Zog trail with 3 year old daughter. Absolutely brilliant. Uses an app on your phone (and augmented reality). Cost £4 for the pack which kept her engaged for a long time. Although you can do the trail without the pack.

Visited Grizedale forest just after the bank holiday. We did GoApe in the morning and hired mountain bikes in the afternoon. The setting for the visitors centre is beautiful. The facilities are clean and smart. The staff were friendly and polite. Their fresh ice cream was lovely. Unfortunately, we didn't use many other options and did not eat inside (it was sunny and there is plenty of seating outside). The parking is an automated number plate- pay as you leave option (£8 for a full day). Beware the main roads to get to Grizedale can be very tight so leave adequate traveling time if you have anything booked.
