Wow, what a brilliant dog friendly bookshop!! This bookshop is set in a really interesting building, it just makes the book browsing experience more enjoyable. They have one of the best childrens sections that I've seen, they keep the 9-15 years and young adult separate rather than lumping them in together. Genres of every description are found here. What is refreshing is to see new books sitting next to 2nd hand books on the shelf. Deserves more than 5 stars!!

This bookshop stands out from the rest in the town with it's Harry Potter vibe. The store is old, all the floorboards creak, the shelves feel ancient and it all feels rustic and just a little bit magical. Lots and lots of new and second hand books alongside crafts (including yarns, wool, crafting etc), gifts and art. Well worth a visit

Always a real joy to visit! Books on every subject you could want or possibly need, a good mix of new and second hand books over 3 beautifully organised floors. We spend just as much time taking photos of the place as we do browsing the shelves. The staff are always so knowledgeable and helpful, even if you have the vaguest description of a book they'll find out what you're looking for!

In all honesty, I visited Hay-on-wye, largely to visit this place and I must say I wasn't disappointed at all! In fact it outlived my expectations! There are so many books that the first feeling is that of being overwhelmed. But once you get over that, you realise you need not a few hours but two days at least to go through each aisle and everything they offer! It's not what you'd call a second hand bookshop in terms of prices, don't be mistaken, they do sell new books as well as old first editions and leather bound book editions etc and hence it's not cheap. It is on the pricier end of a bookshop. There's a hidden gem of books in the basement which most people forget to visit. There's also a cafe serving absolutely fantastic pancakes at the far end of the cafe! The fries/chips and the pancakes saved my day as vegetarian person! My partner loved them so much that he ordered a second plate for himself! The staff is very kind and thoughtful as well! The leather chairs are comfy, so go there with time on your hands to make yourself comfy in those chairs to indulge with a book of your choice! PS they also sell amazing cards, journals and notebooks!

Three floors of books in a beautiful building full of character. Downstairs there is a good stock of second hand books in various conditions, but prices are generally slightly higher than your usual second hand/charity fare. (This was a recurring theme through all of the bookstores in town) I saw few first or special editions, again very pricey. The first and second floors house a very good range of new books. Additionally, the second floor has a comfortable seating area in case your friends or significant other are not as enthusiastic about spending a few hours perusing bookshelves.

A fully wheelchair accessible bookshop in Hay on Wye, who knew? This is a fantastic bookshop with both old and new books. The staff were very helpful and friendly and there is even a elevator to access downstairs and upstairs. I would definitely visit again as it has a wide range of books.

A beautiful bookshop in a wonderful building. Has two floors selling both new and secondhand books. There's also a cafe which serves great food, and is set in a beautifully bright spacious area towards the back. Also houses a fantastic cinema.
