Absolutely blinding food, the curry made here is so authentic you can really taste the depth of flavour in each dish. The lamb I had was so tender melted In your mouth
Room was comfortable and clean would definitely stay again,
As new owners they really have pulled off a british pub feel, with a superb Indian restaurant
We visited The George this evening and our group were all extremely impressed! The hotel is in a beautiful historic building in the middle of the High Street. Such a cosy, inviting and relaxing setting. The wine by the glass was gorgeous and so to were the selections of beers. We ate in the bar area (very comfortable) rather than the dining area because we had our dog with us and the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. There is a beautiful positive energy flowing throughout the hotel. We ordered dinner from the extensive Indian menu and it was very impressive! We loved it and are also very happy to learn they do take-away too! We will all definitely be back and totally recommend The George to all who visit Henfield.
I’m just reviewing the Indian restaurant rather than the hotel. The food is a cut above the average Indian restaurant and is well priced compared to others. The room that it sits in is in the medieval part of the building and is very historic. The rest of the ground floor is somewhat wasted and doesn’t seem to know what it is. It’s neither pub nor dining. I wish them well though because this place, like the White Hart at the other end the High Street, changes hands and management every few months and it would great to see some stability here. They need to lose the Sky Sports advertising outside because it’s not that kind of place.
Delicious Indian meal, absolutely delicious. Staff are extremely courteous, polite and friendly.
Just had dinner at Elaichi at The George for the first time. Lovely food, great service. An excellent addition to our High Street.
Went in for a few drinks after the remembrance march. Lovely pub and very friendly staff. Were given new menu tasters to try which were amazing. Pork belly and wings. Mentioned that we had a couple of vegetarians and were then given amazing halloumi, mushrooms and moving mountain. The food is amazing and would definitely recommend booking a meal here.
I stayed one night in the single room (Room#1) and thought it was clean, comfortable and perfect for what I needed (2 days cycling around South Downs). The staff warned me when I booked that the room was small but it was absolutely fine. Unfortunately no chef at the pub, so had to get brekkie from a nearby cafe, but for the price and location I thought this was a great place.
Fabulous Indian food !! Been twice now awesome x
Great Indian food in a standard high street pub.
This hotel is exceptional!
Initially greeted by a very warm welcome from Leisha which set the tone for an extremely pleasant stay. Easy check in process and the room was lovely, warm and comfortable. Ate here for dinner and the service from Chris and the other waitstaff was second to none! Always smiling, had all the answers and provided excellent, safe service, especially considering the current covid climate. The food was also very good, I recommend the hunter's chicken pie! Decided to stay for breakfast and was not let down. Great portion sizes, locally sourced ingredients and a fair price too!
The staff here really made it! Keep up the good work and I'll definitely look to stay again!
