Just red the review written by 'obviously'. I have never red so much rubbish! I was a licenced kennel hand for 4/5yrs for two trainers. I worked in the actual on site kennels (not the office where you have nothing to do with the trainer or dogs). Those dogs are well maintained and looked after. Teeth cleaned/nails clipped/groomed, coats and heaters in the winter, every racer is seen by a manipulator at least once every 6mths. There fed the best food and meat possible, breakfast was cereal, Mon-Sat greyhound mixer and minced beef and Sundays pasta, cheese and chicken not to mention the late night bonio or custard cream biscuit they got. Starved! what a joke! The only time they got a small dinner was the day of there race. It would actually be cruel to feed them a normal sized dinner that day and make them run on a full stomach, it would make them sick! 2hrs after there race they got fed there normal sized dinner they missed at dinner time. So they actually get more food on race day! get your facts right. Those dogs are nothing but loved and treated with the up most respect. They love to race and get nutty excited when they no there running. Look at the photos 'yeah really unhappy 'not'. The dog 2nd dog in the photo went on holiday to Cornwall with his owner for a weeks break, most residential dogs get put in kennels when there owners go away. Beaten before a race! what in front of everyone and a contracted vet! its laughable! If that were true then every greyhound would be a nervous wreak around people, they certainly wouldn't let the trainer catch them at the end of there race in fear of getting "beaten". I know as well as anyone you always get your bad apples in any sport and its only the odd bad one that you hear about not the other good 90% and where you got there in pain when they run I don't know!? there built n bred to run. There rubbed down with 'Trainers choice muscle rub', every joint is flexed and stretched right down to ever individual toe before they race plus there checked and trotted up in front of vet behind the scenes. If the vet sees lameness then its pulled out, why do you think you see 'non runner' sometimes! Not only are you clueless about racing your clueless about dogs in general!....... Great fun for a night out. Good hot dogs and chips
Had a nice evening. Wasn't very busy. Food was very nice (fish and chips) only problem was it was freezing cold in there. Had to keep coat on. Don't think heating Could've been on or working because the so called "very hot" water was ice cold.
Great evening of entertainment. Get there early as the parking gets full quickly
Came here on a tuesday night, it was great fun. I would like to thank the lovely girls in the betting booths next to the bar tonight, for making me smile every time i placed a bet, even when i lost! Would definitely go again.
Been to Henlow dogs many times and always had a good laugh. It may not be to every ones taste but the place is a warm, friendly and professional setup. Food and beer prices are reasonable. Deals can be bought online from their website, details of any seasonal, special functions can also be found here.
The function room is ideal for the larger work get togethers if you don't fancy standing track side.
Whatever you go for there's always a great atmosphere, other sports are streamed, aired on the bars Tv's. Plenty of Windows to place bets.
Parking is free. Prices and opening times are posted online.
Overall a pleasant experience.
Went Henlow Dogs today in The Winning Post Restaurant staff were attentive and pleasant. Food was good and at £19 for 3 courses was good value. Sunday roast was lovely and drink was reasonably priced at £18 for a bottle of wine. Had a bet and a few winners so all in all a good day.
Had a blast. I wouldn't go by myself but great fun for a group of people. Decent bar and food not all that brilliant but let's face it your not here for a posh meal. Well worth going.
Iv been watching gray hounds for 40 years I like to ask the racing manager how did he come to to put Ferryfirt Elme in trap 4 on Sunday night. It whent of at 11 to 8 had no poss he robbing the public. Bling. And he knows it he should get a job in Tesco.
Lovely day out with the family. Food was great for the amount paid. Staff were friendly and we all had a great Sunday afternoon
