We first ate in the Burnt Truffle few week ago with family who live locally as it was close to our hotel and the meal was fine. The menu choices were good and overall we enjoyed the evening. I can't say its the "Best Meal ever" as another reviewer has stated but it was above average. Our second recent visit was much better. The menu was almost identical which was a bit disappointing, but the food was in my opinion better in terms of both presentation and flavour. We had a good evening and would happily return.

No matter how many great restaurants open up in the many far-flung corners of the country, no matter how many times the national newspapers make a concerted effort to review sites in Manchester, Leeds and York, no matter how many places in Cornwall or the Lakes or the Scottish Highlands win Michelin stars or find themselves in the upper reaches of so many "best restaurant" lists, there's still a huge temptation to regard London as the last word in dining and epicentre of restaurant culture and anywhere decent in the provinces as a blip, a one-off, impressive maybe but unusual, nothing more.

“Eating well gives a spectacular joy to life and contributes immensely to goodwill and happy companionship.“ – Elsa Schiaparelli. I quoted the above on my blog at approximately this time last year when I turned 30 (and in the course of doing so visited numerous wonderful restaurants to celebrate). So in memory/celebration of turning 31 I decided to use another quote that (sort of) sums my year this year.

The sister restaurant to Sticky Walnut has arrived in Heswall. Followers of Sticky will be accustomed to Chef-Proprietor, Gary Ushers hilarious Twitter antics. Burnt Truffle follows with a similar menu to the mothership. During a lunchtime visit we tried:. Cured salmon, gazpacho, avocado, broad beans, pickled cucumber

I love the hospitality industry and I love working in restaurants. Especially the likes of Burnt Truffle in Heswall. You know all about it I'm sure, the second restaurant from Gary Usher and the team behind Sticky Walnut in Chester. As ever with these shoots, I can't claim a completely unbiased opinion (so feel free to ignore anything I say about the food). I'm there to do a job; to take photos.

The dishes we ordered were good. The sharing steak was cooked to perfection, but the meat wasn’t the tastiest. We still enjoyed it however. The truffle and Parmesan chips were out of this world. We both thoroughly enjoyed those. Service was attentive and personable, the waitress was friendly in her interactions. We did overhear them saying there are usually more staff on a busy Friday night, but we found the service good enough with just the two of them. Atmosphere wise, without other diners in the room (we sat downstairs), there isn’t much of a vibe. I’d recommend requesting sitting downstairs (it’s very small) as you get somewhat of an ambience from the sounds and delights of the kitchen. It’s our first visit here and we weren’t expecting to literally be sat in what felt like a living room of a house. For the price (3 courses + wine was around £180 with service charge for 2 people), we were expecting something a bit more upscale inside. Nevertheless, we’d return at some point, but I don’t think it will be our go to restaurant for a nice meal.

This was our first visit for my birthday. It's a lovely stone cottage on Heswall main street, yet set back off the road. There are outside tables too, though, for when the weather is nice. The staff were welcoming and helpful and we could see the chefs in action and all was calm and clean in there. The food was well presented, different and very tasty. The portions were a nice size - not too big, which I can't stand. I want to enjoy, not gorge.

Well worth the journey, we often come from Liverpool and have Sunday lunch here. The staff are amazing, friendly and efficient. The menu changes seasonally, all courses were delicious. Good wine selection and restaurant atmosphere warm with good music.

Went for lunch for my mum's birthday. The food and service and price was amazing. The non-alcoholic cocktail was brilliant. No pics of food as we dived in too fast. Don't get me wrong the atmosphere was wonderful but it was a quiet midweek day. Definstley worth a visit. :)

We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch at Burnt Truffle. The staff and atmosphere is very welcoming and the food was excellent. Burnt Truffle has a great variety of pairing wines for each course. Look forward to visiting again in the near future.

Absolutely amazing Sunday! I’m coeliac so naturally quite cautious coming out for food. Our waitress Kate was so accommodating and delightful letting me know about the allergens and being very reassuring, totally lush - the kitchen made me truffle fries (which were amazing) despite not being on the menu for Sunday, the man who I assume was the manager was very charismatic and attentive too. Overall fabulous experience really recommend and am looking forward to returning!

Food beautifully done, chefs at ease with what they do. Staff went above and beyond when my table requested an "off menu cocktail" white Russians, very friendly waitress said give me a minute ill check if we have the ingredients, caught them sneaking back from shop with everything needed for white Russian. Would recommend every time. Beautiful.

First meal out this year and it was amazing. I actually wanted to order 2 starters but I was so full I'm pleased I didn't. The terrace was lovely and there were clear covid precautions but still warm and friendly My friend is also vegan and they made loads of options available to her and were really clear. As good as all of my food was I think the whole roast cauliflower was the winner.

Sat at an outside table on a sunny Friday lunchtime. Great staff, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearing. Excellent with regards providing gluten-free options, very good menu in this respect. We went with the 3 course full bistro menu. The food was immense, excellent quality and the flavours were outstanding! Highlight was the main course of featherblade of beef which was absolutely incredible, the texture and flavour was out of this world. Some lovely touches at start and end of meal with some little extras. Did briefly consider giving four stars as overall quite expensive on first sight. However, you do get what you pay for and this was worth every single penny. Congratulations Burnt Truffle.

Beautiful quaint Bistro. Super friendly and attentive service. Food tasted amazing. The mushroom stuffed cabbage was stand out for me. As a vegetarian I thought they had a great selection on the menu. Would come back if I pass through here again. Thank you to the wonderful team @ burnt truffle!
