Really nice cafe at the bottom of the hill {Steep hill} can recommend the attached museum and if dining try the hot pies and the cakes

A beautiful cafe at Vindolanda. Delicious food, reasonably priced, and the inside and outside of the cafe are beautiful.

Outstanding, simple cafe within the museum. Why? Because I've never had such a good pannini before, and while I was skeptical of the size at first, it did indeed do the trick. Nice atmosphere as well, and both indoor and outdoor seating
